Default FDX: Jan08 Disputed Pairings

ALPA's founders chose "Schedule with Safety" as our motto. The SIG/PSIT is Scheduling for OUR Safety !!

Support them in upholding the standard -- Don't fly disputed pairings!

Remind those you know who fly disputed pairs, either by force or by choice, to fill out a Critique Sheet on their experiences (or email/call the SIG) so they have some ammunition for the disputed pairs resolution process.

================
BEGIN SIG Notes:
================
The following is the FedEx MEC's definitive list of the parings that are disputed for January 2008. These pairings should not be available in any bid pack lines and should not be assigned to any secondary lines without a specific request, by pairing number, from the crewmember to do so. The comments associated with the disputes are those of the ALPA SIG/PSIT.

A300 MEM
#92,#212,#457

#92/3Jan - Disputed for an onerous same duty deadhead, the last day flies from DEN to OAK, then deadheads to MEM with a total duty of 14:35.
#212/2Jan - Disputed for a critical launch embedded in a day trip with minimum rest before the critical launch.
#457/1Jan - Disputed for a Day - Critical - Night - Night sequence. The critical sequence ends in SAN after a 4:26 block flight.

Data provided by management indicates the final BOS-ORD leg routinely operates late. Crews would then be arriving at O'Hare during a heavy traffic period and be unduly fatigued due to their duty in the critical period.

MD-11 ANC
#17,#57

#17/27JAN08 - Trip 17 was disputed for numerous body clock swaps both before and after the sole reset in the pairing.

#57/31DEC07 - Trip 57 was disputed due to the onerous nature of the multiple hub turn type events and body clock swaps prior to reaching the reset. The reset needs to be placed earlier in the pairing before flying the hard work.

All are continuing disputes from November and December. These pairings all contain flight 0005 that operates CDG-STN-MEM. The PSIT believes that the use of a RFO on a 2-leg sequence in which one of the legs would normally require an augmented crew should not have an additional flight leg. Flights from STN-MEM are 9:29 of block time alone. Additionally, the total duty in this 2-leg duty period is 13:14, only 16 minutes from CBA limits.

#398/1Feb
This pairing contains a front end design that does not allow for a proper rest period prior to show time. It is a 3-leg sequence ending in IAD. The flight has a show time of 1843 LBT and with normal travel time, parking and check-in we predict most crews will have to leave for work by 5:30 PM. These duties all transit IND on a hub turn and end in the morning after almost 10 hours on duty. This design is not ideal and we have sought for the pairing to layover in IND or the use of a closer city for the 3rd leg.

#447/16Jan
#583/7Jan
#592/21Jan
#592/28Jan
#599/2Jan
All contain the following flight sequence: OAK-ORD, ORD-IND, IND-ORD same duty period. This design starts in the day duty period and flies into the critical duty period. A long duty of 11:39, operating in and out of ORD twice, with a high probability of having weather, de-ice and ATC issues makes this an unsatisfactory plan. This pairing should be broken in IND.

#405/1Jan - Pairing has a 12:58 layover that swaps a sleep cycle from day to critical. This layover is too short to allow for proper rest prior to flying back to OAK from IND.

#191/18Jan
#191/25Jan
#700/12Jan
Disputed based on the fatiguing and onerous nature of the JFK-IND-OAK flight sequence. The long duty of 11:25, along with the potential for delays out of JFK and IND, make this sequence unnecessarily hard flying.

#699/11Jan - This pairing is disputed due to the 15 hours of duty with no First Class available on the 2nd leg of the deadhead.

I hear you. I get so pi$$ed off when I see these disputed pairings being flown. Why do we have people wasting their time on the PSIT if knuckleheads pick these things up in open time. I am not talking about draft or volunteer (which would at least rat them out for the *****s they are) but straight time. Zero tolerance. If you fly with these scumbags don't eat with them and let them know they are taking your dues money that you could be spending on your family. I hope I don't hurt anyones feelings because some of them are good guys...

They only got the first one right in each series; had to do the rest by hand-- way too many DPs lately

Don't worry, I'll gladly let you do the updates

Glad I added the auto-dp feature to magicwebfx (aren't you), now I only have to type them out one time (for me and for you too)

Hey guys, I don't see any of the 727 pairings. Did they revise all of the disputed pairings and change their numbers?

Not sure who gets the credit for fixing this one, but, score one for the good guys-- whaahoo!!

Indeed, they have revised all the 727 disputed pairs!! They are Xtra pairings #303 thru #326 that now go to BOS- layover, ORD- layover, then to MEM.

Every time someone flys a DP, God kills a kitten.

Remember the kitties!
