new wrinkle in the over 60 issue.

Just came to light at the F Street tonight that S/O Wilhoit... (the greatest old S/O ever) is starting a movement to have the max age raised to 85.

Heck, why have a max age??

As long as you can pass the "physical" and get up the stairs....

Any set age is discrimination.

We might be hiring by the time he's out of flight school.....Of course we'll be paying the company every month for the privilege of flying their jets in the middle of the night. Coffee will be extra.

That is where the ball was dropped in all of this. If ALPA was worth its salt, they would have been pushing for no age restriction at all. How is 65 not arbitrary discrimination when 60 was? The true battle could have focused on preserving retirment parameters for the ENTIRE crew force and not just a small group within it. That way we, the ENTIRE crew force, will not be forced to work to 65 or whatever age ICAO decides to move to next. We should have led not followed on this issue.

You mean like 21 to drink, 18 to vote, 16 to get a learners permit, 62 to get the social security you earned, 55 to get that discount on your Super Slam at Dennys? Or maybe the 18, she's OK, 17 years and 364 days, you go to jail. Any others?

Another one....JJ says you can't join the military if you are over 42. Obvious age discrimination!
