Default Ati?

Anyone here work for Air Transport Intl., or know someone that does? I am wondering if this a decent place to work. I am considering applying and I would like to know a little about the place before I do so.

Thanks.

Pretty decent place to work. You work up to 16 days per 28 day bid period. While it's possible to work the 16 days straight, you generally work 8 on, 6 off. About half of the flying is domestic flights out of BAX's Toledo hub and the rest of the flying is international (a lot of which is done by the senior folks).

The pay is equal to or better than most 747 supplemental carriers and we are home based. Almost all the crewmembers are a pleasure to fly with and the airplanes are in about as good a condition as you could expect for a forty-ish year old jet.

We are in the process of being sold to Cargo Holdings International concurrently with the sale of BAX to the Deutsche Bahn. I've heard we will continue to operate for BAX under contract. Also, we are in union contract negotiations which seem to have come to a grinding halt in the compensation phase.

Any other questions?

ATI has 747s or do I misunderstand your post? Thought ATI was all DC8s.

How long on reserve? Do reserve guys sit at home or at the Clarion in TOL? Retirements? How are the BAX schedules? Any other info you can provide to an RJ Captain looking to cross over to the cargo world would be greatly appreciated

Speed- Yes, currently ATI only operates DC-8s. I used the 747 comparison because there aren't many DC-8 operators to compare to and I believe ATI pay much better than the ones that do (with the exception of UPS).

Flaps 9- There are two types of reserve;
1.) "hard reserve" is 16 scheduled days, which aren't usually consecutive- usually 8 on, 6 off. On hard reserve you usually either fly BAX or sit in the Toledo Plaza.

2.) "open reserve" you don't have a schedule at all and you usually stay home until you receive an assignment. Days off are earned at a ratio of 8 hours off for every 10 hours on per diem. So, if for example you were on duty for 10 days (240 hours) you would be guaranteed 8 days off (192 hours)

Retirements: with the pending sale I don't know what the new plan will be. Presently 401k with match.

BAX schedules: usually 8 on, 6 off if you start in Toledo. If you start in PDX or SJC it's more like 11 on, 10 off.

Pay: 13-28 day bid periods per year. 56 hour guarantee. 3.5 hour a day trip rig. Year one FO pay $51.19 hr. Year two $65.90 hr. Year three $77.30.

We've recently hired a lot of RJ guys and they seem quite happy with the transition. Good luck.

Looking at the web page I have seen Fan engines on the freighters and jet on the combi, are those archive pictures or is this the current set up?
Any upgrade as far as avionics? I have herd partial glass, but it was Flight info....
Thanks

All of the freighters are powered by the CFM56's. We have three combis that are powered by the low-bypass JT3's. ATI recently purchased two DC-8-72's from the French Air Force which are presently being fumigated and modified to eventually join the combi fleet.

All the airplanes have UNS-1D GPS's installed. All of the DC-8-73's have glass (Rockwell I believe). The -62's and -71's still have their original avionics (except for the altimeters and airspeed indicators). The -72's are supposed to have a complete Universal package installed including the flat panels and I understand eventually the whole fleet will be converted to Universal displays.
