Default Polar/Atlas Seniority merger

I am awaiting a class date for polar/atlas but they said they wont run a class untill they merge the list.

1) Does anyone know how the merger is going, and when will it be completed?

2) Are they currently understaffed?

3) If they are understaffed can they afford not to run a class untill the merger?

4) Basicly I am asking this - when are they going to run a new hire class?

Any info would help because I am now unemployed like so many of my fellow brothers.

1-No one nows what's going on with the merger except the merger commitees of both unions and management. there is an 18 months time frame and then an arbitrator will decide on the emerged contract, not the list.no one has a clue about the list.

2-Polar is always understaff, but they have enough *****s who fly up to or above the cap to make up for it. I don't know aboput Atlas.

3-bottom line, no one knows what's going on with the merger and /or future growth and airplane orders, not even our retarded management.

I'll add a couple things to Greedy.

The company is going to talk to the unions on the 17th to try and accelerate the process. As you can guess, neither pilot group wants to agree to something that they perceive as bad for their group.

Polar is downsizing to 9 planes in the next few months. They will be a little overmanned for a short time. The company says they will not have to furlough and will just fix it via attrition.

Atlas just did a base bid, realignment. Atlas has quit a few retirements this year. Until some new equipment comes on the property, hiring will be slow.

Is it true that all Atlas and Polar a/c will have UAL paint within the next year?

the United rumor is back again (it was a rumor in 2000) due to the fact that the
old Polar ,Atlas and AAWWH (atlas air worldwide holding, the parent holding company that owns both airlines) COO was Scott Dylan , who was a GE/GECAS
guy, and is now the Presindent of United Ailrines cargo. He has said that United made a mistake when they stop their cargo only operation and he would like to re-start that , and buying an existing operation would be easier and faster.

but that is his wishful thnking.

United management also approached the United MEC a few years back about doing an ACMI with Atlas, something the United Mec found humorous at best since they had a few thousand guys on the street.

rumors al with no backing.

On a total side note: Is Alex Nicolov still flying for Atlas?

An old flying buddy, not a bill collector.

Thanks.

Oh yes, quiet, low key Alex is still here. A pleasure, as he's always stirring things up. The MEC is always looking over their shoulder with him around. He's on the -400.
