FDX Mar LAX FO lines
Was just looking at the March MD 11 FO lines. I guess we are all part of the problem because there are only about 15 flying lines for 105 pilots. The rest are RFO, standby or reserve lines. Most of the RFO trips do not have any landings in them or only one.Get bad weather or a high mins Capt and you are scraping for a landing. With zero open time and losing the LAX-OAK night out and back it is tough to get your 3/90 in.
I am sure that the MEM lines are suffering too! Guess the reason is not enough Capt's. They are fixing that though!

I almost hate to say it, but as I was working on my MEM lines I was thinking they were better than the past few months.
And oh, by the way ... the bid packs and accepted fares wre out on time this month

We have hotel or airport standby. You get per diem and 6 hrs a day for those.
Reserve is no per diem and 4.5 hrs per day if not called to fly. If called to fly you have to fly more hrs in the month than the reserve line is worth (4.5 X the number of days of reserve) to get extra pay.

It's not pretty in the left seat at LAX either, the lines (f/o and Capt) are the worst Ive ever seen in the domicile and I've been there since it opened.
I'm not sure just what happened to make it so compared to the last 5 week month we had, but it's ugly. Personally I lay blame at the feet of the SIG committee chairman. I used to have some rather heated arguments with him on phone calls when I was LEC vice chairman in Los Angeles. The discussions never amounted to much though, it's a Memphis-centric oriented organization and our lines have just kept getting worse.
On the bright side, just how much worse can they get? :P

The SIG works within the parameters of the contract. The latest contract passed with a 97% vote.
If you don't like the schedules coming out I recommend we that we, as a pilot group, place work rules a little higher in our priority list in the upcoming negotiations.
