FDX ANC DP 139, 13mar

Hey K.R.

Was this a mistake??

Bohica 02-26-2008 12:01 PM

Looks like they are getting them on secondary lines, as the trip doesn't show on the calendar yet.

FLMD11CAPT 02-26-2008 01:57 PM

This may well be scheds trying to "create a loophole" by buliding a secondary line w/reserve days that fit a "DP" perfectly and then immediately assigning the DP to the r-days. .......problem is....secondary lines aren't released yet and these guys show on the pairings....HMMMMM:mad:

Good point; however, I doubt it. We'll see tomorrow around 1701. If the next VTO downstream has trips assigned to it, then it's a good indication they asked for it. Regarding MS assinging the trips...I have a hard time believing MS can assign reserve trips that far in advance. But...

Gunter 02-26-2008 02:17 PM

Reserve trips are not supposed to be assigned this early.

fedupbusdriver 02-26-2008 03:32 PM

If they are more than xx hrs tafb, i think that they can be assigned in advance, but i don't have time to look it up at the present time.

sparkmo 02-26-2008 03:53 PM

It appears to be more than 7 days early

K. Advance Reserve Assignment

1. The Company may advance assign a reserve pilot a trip(s) from open time in accordance with Section 25.G.1. (Open Time Assignments), only for the following purposes:

a. to satisfy FAR experience requirements for the least restrictive operating limitations (e.g., CAT II/III minimums, 100 block hours in 90 days, 75 block hours in new equipment); or

b. to comply with visa acquisition procedures; or

c. to cover an open time trip that is more than 50 hours TAFB, such assignment shall not be awarded greater than 7 days in advance.

then the Captain on trip 107/8 Mar probably got it on Reserve as a line check to satisfy para. a. above (as he has posted on the other thread - he got it on RSV, and it's a line check)

as for the FO's on the other two (2003/16 Mar, and 139/13 Mar) according to the sections of the contract above they must have either:

1) specifically requested the trip, or

2) the trip was assigned to them "in error" and they will be allowed to choose the options from the grievance settlement posted on the other thread about these pairings

neither 1) or 2) is good, but I'm hoping it isn't 1) and then we all hear "oops, I screwed up....sorry.....it'll never happen again......" - that's really getting old.....and frankly, total BS (in my opinion) - especially with as much emphasis as everyone up here in ANC places on this topic.

This is too important to keep on "accidentally" screwing it up.

This wasn't started for the Captain who was assigned a DP due to a line check. That seems to happen occasionally, which could be stopped if the LCAs would say no thank you. Everyone needs to help:

1. call in fatigued if needed.
2. don't request them.
3. have contract enforcement get some "...." and grieve them if given to someone not requesting them. The settlement should be a minimum of pay without having to do the trip. Additionally, subsequent cases should be dealt with in the same way....dropped trip with pay.
4. LCAs - don't give line checks on DPs. Other than the fact the trips aren't healthy, pilots' livelihoods are at stake. We all make more mistakes when we are tired.

Checking VTO Schedule prior to release!

On Monday or Tuesday before Secondaries are released go to that month on your calender and hit the "block display" option on the left. It will show your "tenative" schedule...including trips. If days are reserve then the trip is assigned as a reserve trip. If the trip is there with no RSV then it is either requested or against the contract.
