Default FDX - training letter timing?

Any one remember how long it has taken in the past to get a training letter out?

I understand that this one is going to have some interesting scheduling issues in it, ie: how do we send a guy to s/o school before we send him to front seat school...

Just wondering how long it may take to sort it all out.

I guess now that Foxhunter's shoulder is better he can attend S/O training. Will he finally change his Position description?

From a business perspective does this make any sense at all?

Our collective well being is based on profits --- that occurs by maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses.

Please don't tell me we are really going to spend money to train folks who will never spend one day in that seat generating revenue.

What if his/her training date isn't until Sep/Oct? Do we just pay them to sit at home?

If they put him/her right back into the left seat wouldn't that be an abrogation of seniority? We know DW would never allow that

No problem with the dual training if they are going to operate and generate revenue for a few months between them.

It just makes me cringe to think we'd actually flow a guy straight from one training slot to another.

I know a 727 SO who was awarded a FO slot during initial indoc and only spent 3 weeks in the backseat after his IOE --- that just seems like incredibly poor planning/forecasting/mgt from a cost perspective.

Admittedly, that happened about 6 months before they started training Purple Nuggets direct to ANC and training every other 727 new hire class with a mix of SOs and FOs.

While recent events have not made me happy, at this point I think we need to do it smart from a business perspective --- less training expense equates to an increase $$ we can ask the company to put in our pockets!

as it was explained to me, no matter what it costs, people trying to game the system will not magically heal directly back to the front seat...

"the only way into a front seat is from the s/o seat" ... quoted from PC

Another thought....I bet these guys will just do that anyway.

With the overmanning in the back of the Boeing, they'll just end up bidding B reserve if they live in MEM...or R24 if they live elsewhere.

No need to worry about your 50 in 6 if your going to be back in training before then.

Because that's how the contract reads. When a junior person is in narrow FO school with a new wide FO award, they can be pulled out of class to start class for the new award. (edit: I see in a subsequent post you realize this happens)

The same rules apply to over 60.

Exceptions to the contract fuel accusations of favoritism.

Even though it is highly unlikely, awards can be cancelled or delayed.

Look on the bright side...It gives them another opportunity for a training failure. Not that I would wish that on anyone in particular, of course.
