Default FDX- Miles on American and BA

I haven't flown American lately. I read where we can earn FF miles on them now. Has anyone flown with British Airways and able to earn AA miles???? I know we can fly with Delta and Continental and earn NWA miles. Just curious if it was the same deal with British....

I have earned AA miles form Cathay. I know that does not answer your question.

I flew BA from CDG-LHR-PHX and gave them my AA number. AA then happily responded that only the CDG-LHR leg qualified for miles.. the trans - atlantic leg did not.. Sucks.

I just flew BA from LHR to DXB and got the miles and bonus. I am AA platinum, don't know if that helped.
Here's a little tidbit of info that might help someone: AA doesn't have the elite matching program that UAL did when they first offered the miles to us. But they do a "challenge" program, where over a 3 month period, depending how many miles you fly, they will put you in an appropriate advantage level. Turned out to be a good deal for me.

They might only give you miles on legs that AA doesn't have their own planes doing the flying. I doubt that AA has a direct flight from LHR to PHX, but you can get there on AA some how.

If you fly 5000 miles in 3 months you get Gold status, 10000 is Platinum.
