[QUOTE=JetJocF14;330796]Just got done with a week of flying west coast hub turns. Nice weather, however last night really took the cake. Flight plan had us programmed to land with a FAT of 24.o with NQA. Very nice. Arrived over Tammy with 24.8 and and was told to slow to 160 knots for the downwind to 18R. 33 mile final at 160 knots. That's 60 miles in this configuration. Landed with 15.5

We had the same problem Thursday night but with even more alarming results!! We added 2400 lbs before push due to 7000 lbs of extra freight. FMS showed 12.4 FAT at MEM (over Razorback) with NQA as the alternate.
We ended blocking in with 8.4!!!! Definitely the lowest I've seen on the Bus.
More fuel will be added next time landing to the South!!!

Don't add fuel just divert and let the company figure it out. If we keep covering for the mistakes of Mgt they will just keep pushing us to lower and lower fuel.

Looking forward to being #10 to Memphis, but #1 to NQA.

although, good wx, rather place my bet on Mempho w/ multiple rwys and land w/out divert fuel.....would make a interesting NASA report

Whenever I see a flight plan with Ltown or Tammy above 10000/12000 ft I call the GOC specialist and have them recalculate my fuel. One day this week after recalculation I had 89lbs of extra. If we all make them redo every flight plan with the correct altitudes maybe the GOC folks will give us a good plan the first time. If GOC says they are unable keep pressing eventually they give in.

Hey folks,

BE the Captain. Add fuel, or not and divert. Just do what is right for "the safe and orderly conduct of the flight". It doesn't matter a whit what GOC "gives" you. The nano-second you pick up the release it's your flight, your crew, your bird, your fuel load, and your responsibility. No whining allowed.

FLMD:confused:

My oh my how I wish EVERY pilot at EVERY airline would do this.

I don't blame the guys working up my flight plan because I know management is on their butt's to. Probably hovering right above them. Every planner I worked with seems to be in just that kind of situation. They seem to be just waiting for pilots to call and tell them they want more fuel. How are the planners at FDX? Do they work with you guys when you call or are they all like the guy who replied to PPR over the ACARS?

I had recurrent ground school recently and the GOC rep said we're supposed to become a flag carrier in 12-18 months. No ALT required if DEST is above 2000/3 1hr before-1hr after. That should be fun. :D

Just load up with the fuel you need and that schould solve the divert problems or maybe I,m missing something here in between the lines ?

God how I hate the 21st century!
