IND commute/Crashpad info

Hi. Just got assigned IND at my regional. I'll be commuting from STL. With all the people already doing this commute on the 4 flights that TSA does daily I figure I'll be using FedEx whenever possible. I asked about the jumpseating a while back but had a couple more questions.

1) Is there a shuttle between your place and the terminal in IND?
2) If I call the number to list, will they tell me how to get to the right place? Not really a problem in STL as I fueled you guys for years but a problem in IND.
3) How many seats do the A-300s and DC/MD-10s have available? Those are the most frequent on that route.

You guys have always been helpful with my questions. Thanks in advance for the responses. If there's anything that you'd rather not post here since it's not common knowledge feel free to PM me. Thanks again!

Please do not post crashpad availability on the forum as it's a violation of the TOS. Use the PM feature to exchange this information. Thanks!

I'll try to answer your questions,

1. Is there a shuttle between the IND terminal & ramp?
Yes. If you are jumpseating, call the ramp and they will send a bus to the terminal for you (in IND. In STL, you're out of luck.) Also, during the evening launch in IND, MANY crews are going back and forth to the airport Radisson & Holiday Inn (walkable from the terminal.) A lot of times, guys jump on one of these shuttles.

2. If you call the number will they tell you where to go?
Yes. If not, they can give you the local ramp number.

3. How many seats do the aircraft have?
The MD10 has usually been the scheduled aircraft between STL & IND, and it has 4 seats behind the cockpit door, and 3 in front. (6-7 total seats.) The A300 has 6 seats behind the door, and 2 in front. (8 total seats.) The STL-IND flights have always been empty. Almost every night. The only time I have seen a jumpseater on that flight is a CHQ/RP pilot going to/from work. So I guarantee you, there will be seats on that flight for you.

4. Crashpad info.
See above post, except as IND is NOT a FedEx crew base, there aren't any FedEx crashpads to be had.

Congrats!

Purple, thanks for the info.

DogBreath, sorry about that. I'll edit the post. Forgot all about the crashpad thing.

One of the reasons I bid IND was that I could drive it if the need arises. HUF is a little closer though :)

But it still almost three hours door to door.

gets old some days, and then once in a great while I will commute it.

then makes me greatful that I leave and get home the same day that I start and finish.
