This is the kicker.....
``We believe that the U.S. domestic business will be scaled down significantly and outsourced where possible,'' Axel Funhoff, an analyst at ING Groep NV in Brussels, said in a note to clients today. Memphis, Tennessee-based competitor FedEx Corp. ``would be the market's most preferred partner for DHL in the U.S.''

Perhaps the "Outsourcing" will be to either ABX Air, Inc. and, or, to Astar Air cargo, Inc.. That is a strong possibility as it is unlikely that DHL will surrender to FedEx or that FedEx would interested in entering a "partnership" that wasn't extremely advantagous to them. We should know in May!

If Fedex or UPS are waiting for DHL to "kick the bucket" here in the US they can forget it. They are whistling dixie. You want'em than buy'em. But,, typical airline mentality,, they want something for nothing. DHL isnt going anywhere.
