On the subject of the 10K, I hope the guy grieves it with or without the union. There were no "only ifs" in the company's promise of up front money.

But why did you bid it seems like an appropriate question. I wanted to go to paris. I read the contract. I read the LOA. I read the company promises. And I made my decision.

But if you don't like the question you are free to say none of your business.

I think the union should have an answer to the original post....are they fighting for the 10K unilaterally and not only if you use the companies real estate company. Write your rep and see what he says AND put the union on the spot. Come to the joint meeting on the 25th and ask them in front of the crewforce.

Albie, you seemed like a decent guy from your posts here and on flight info.

But seriously, is this your stance now? "Hey, why'd you bid it?" That's something Webb would say. Great way to look out for the new hires that are going to be sent there.

Yeah, I suspect we are all going to hear the "I've got a few other fires I'm working on so I can't address the issues with the FDAs blah blah blah" for the next couple of years. Up to and including the next contract negotiations.

FDA Pilot to Union: "There's roughly 160 of us now, and list as long as Prater's rap sheat of problems/issues that have not been fixed."

Union to FDA pilot: "Hey sorry, I know we promised you guys 'take this deal now and we'll get you a better one on the next contract', but we've got bigger issues and other fires to deal with now and can't help you. Maybe on the 2014 contract when there's 250 of you guys we can help you. But not this time."

Just f-ing great.

At least EI will try and help.

Wow, this is really stretching reality. You were on this forum for months telling everyone what a sh1tty deal this FDA was and then you bid it relying on the Company's good will and the Union's promise of future improvements. I really think this $10k deal will surely get resolved by the pilot portion of Senior management( you listening O). But to say that just because Albie won't drop everything else the Union is working on to "fix" your deal and if he doesn't he's one of them is really a step. I hate to say it but we really do have more important sh1t that the other 4700 of us want him to deal with. Remember the Freight Dog's motto: I'm aboard, bring up the ladder"

That is incorrect. That is not the reason I bid an FDA. It certainly had nothing to do with the Company's good will. I realized long ago that they don't have any.

On the plus side, to cope with all of these broken promises and/or unanswered questions, the Union included Paragraph C, Page 1, of the LOA.

But I am still responsible enough to be concerned that what few promises the Company and Union made are honored, for the sake of those who are going. I guess you aren't.

Yeah I think it was a case of your message not coming through clearly, leading some of us to ask the 'why did you bid it expecting for xyz' questions.

As far as remedies....we had our chance back in august.
Agreed.

Could we all be pleasantly surprised to see the MEC actually work toward significant improvements for the FDAs as promised? It would be nice.....but.....Pass the crack pipe, please!
Crack is so 80's, how about some meth instead?

Sorry to be such a grump...time to get out of this hotel room!
No worries, I didn't think you were that grumpy.

Final option,,

this all sounds like it's time to say no to "sign on the dotted line please". Its a good time to endure a 2 year lock. NO movement anyway with the ND's/economic slowdown,,,etc. And who know's what the company might come up with if the folks who bid this start bailing,,,

just my e.031 worth,,,

That's why I quoted Paragraph C brother....

Just to clarify....

This is a 10K loan, right?

The bigger issue, as I understand it, is that 'deposits' are often not returned in Hong Kong. They are more like fees.

It's a dead horse, but isn't that why Cathay takes care of housing for their expats? Boy, I wish we were as profitable as Cathay and could afford to do it right.

Have you signed?

Are you going to?

Cargo Pirate 03-24-2008 06:25 PM

Our current FDA leverage will only come from FDA bidders not signing their union rights away to achieve Fortune 500 quasi-benefits that were offered to us(not really negotiated).
