FedEx Health Insurance
Hello all...
Can someone explain how FedEx health insurance plan works (if its not too complicated). I'm in the military and I'm used to just flashing my ID card when I get the sniffles and never paying a dime. What can I expect from FedEx or other airlines?? Also does it work differently for my family?

Dude, totally understand what you mean. It's amazingly simple. You enroll during your newcomer week and it costs you 90$/month for you and your family. Fedex uses Cigna and you'll be directed to call them to set up your account. Very quick and easy. They will assign you a primary care provider (newspeak for doctor) in your local area and he'll be your primary contact. You can also change it to a different guy as long as he takes Cigna. After that, you'll have 20$ copays every time you visit him as well as either 10/25/50$ copays on prescription drugs depending on whether you can get generic or brand name drugs. My wife was pregnant at the time we transitioned and we got her hooked up with a doc of her choice and everything was covered. All in all, I've been pretty impressed with the level and quality of care. The monthly premium and copays aren't too bad, especially when compared to what some other civilians pay. The only catch is that you need to find a doctor who is considered "in network" as higher fees apply for "out of network" care.

There's actually more to it than that. It sounds like Deuce is based and lives on the planet Memphis. I live in CA and we have some choices. I don't pay attention to the MEM choices since I don't care.
We use a group plan with Kaiser. It costs us about $160/mo. Sorry, I don't remember the exact figure and I'm out on a trip. But that covers most everything with a small co-pay. Again, I don't use doctors much so I'm thinking that the co-pay is $10 per visit and prescription.
The options are there regardless of where you live. And we're fighting to hang on to the best medical coverage possible during the current contract negotiations.
Does anyone know when I can expect to start B-737 captain school? Maybe I should just call Jack.
