What's up with this trip? Was it assigned involuntarily on a VTO?

It looks like the number 5 VTO line awarded. That's all that I can tell.

He requested it on his VTO line, somehow not realizing it was a DP... he is very sorry - for what little that is worth.

Several Capt's have called him on it, me included. He's aware of the mistake, not an excuse, but I told him there probably would be other's calling, making sure he understood the DP process and what it does to our QOL if these are continually picked up. Soon we have a bidpack with nothing but pairings that should be disputed. Not sure if he's heard from any fellow F/O's

Yes -- he has heard from at least one fellow F/O.

Good.. now if we can get the memphis guys to police themselves we'd be heading in the right direction... but that's memphis... closest to the tower but the farthest from getting it right.

I can tell you requesting this trip was blunder!
I went through training with him and there isn't a better guy out there. He saw his mistake the day before the VTOs came out and called the ANC LEC chair to see if there was anything they could do to get him out of it. He has also answered the emails and calls and has taken the comments to heart. Trust me there isn't anyone out there harder on this kind of stuff than he is. At 78 credit hours he can't just drop it. I know he is all over open time and if possible he will trade out of it. Or, if you guys see a trip let him know ASAP.

We eat our own in this business, when a mistake is made maybe we should let it slide.......... ONCE!

I wish Memphis was more like Anchorage!

This familiar story is why the current system is doomed to fail. 4700 potential mistakes by a "good guy" every month.

The numbers are against us.
