UPS Question

767 pilot, that's why I've always said that our turning down the midterm T/A in 2001 was one of the most stupid decisions this pilot group has made. Second to voting in T.N., who was exposed by the neg. cmte early on as a know-nothing.
When newhires complain about first year pay, I sadly inform them that their peers at UPS voted down a large pay raise that was part of the T/A. That it's high time we stop blaming the company at least on this one.

We have complained that some trips are unsafe in MIA. The group has to make the claim before it appears in three bid packages. After that, the Company will say you have been doing it all along. The trips will be removed from lines and go to open time. If no one trades into them they have to be covered by M pilots. You have to be carefull in using it because if they goto open time and everyone trades into them - the company will lose respect for the scheduling comittee rep.

The fact that our crack team was not even able to get this contract up to the standards set by the last EB in a post 9/11 adjustment package shows the premium we all paid for electing a knucklehead (ok, a few well meaning knuckleheads) to our EB.
No excuses, there is a lot of blame to go around including each and every one of us. I hope that this gets straightened out in the next few years but I haven't seen any indications that this group is getting the leadership it needs.

Perzactly. Name me one line that we "contested" or "turned down?" I dont understand why we dont use this provision? Seems like it should be used every bid period without fail. But maybe I just dont get it, thats probabaly it........
