FDX Age 60+ guys stealing seats currently unavailable
One reason why they won't cancel Bid 08-01 instead of allowing a guy over 60 who currently sits in the back seat awaiting training to complete training which , in reality, will cause younger pilots to be displaced off of their seats they CURRENTLY hold? After PC's letter, it is painfully obvious we have no real vacancies in any front seats at this time. Maybe I'm just still bitter about our MEC voting against the vast majority of their constituents but I see NO reason why we allow a guy who has NO right to a front seat due to no real openings to take a seat away from a younger guy. Anyone care to enlighten me???

"Because it's the right thing to do" and "we can't destroy our seniority system"
Sarcasm off.
How about because DW and his buds are taking care of their own. I just sincerely hope that the MEC won't cave on the BLGs/furlough issue. They have a chance to redeem themselves somewhat but I'm not holding my breath.
Anyhow, I'm bitter too but I'm trying to get over it, I suppose I should get off this forum and go to the golf course.

On a funny side note.... I was in the AOC the other day, and they kept paging for "Second Officer Jack Lewis, please call crew check in." He had been seen with an IOE instructor going to the jet, so I am sure they figured out he was there and just forgot the check in. But YES, they made him complete 727 s/o training!!

I would pay money to be there for that just to see the reaction in ops

Maybe we can get a large turnout of the junior guys at the upcoming union meetings and start working on a 2010 contract that will take care of the majority of the crewforce, not just the senior captains. Don't get me wrong, the senior guys shouldn't be pushed in front of the bus....maybe just a contract that protects all of our interests. I think we're off to a good start with a more junior (not junior...just more junior) committee dealing with the 2010 contract. By the way...thanks to those guys for stepping up and taking on a painful job.

I notice that Foxhunter (funny because he is a little short weasel looking guy) hasn't showed up on this site since he has been in training. I wonder if he did, he would still have MD-11 Capt on his Position.

Well now that they "did the right thing" by getting the over 60 S/O's back do you think they will put out a message line and ask those that are over 60 with at least 25 years in to retire and "do the right thing" so other pilots won't be forced out of seats just because they don't feel like retiring? Now that would at least redeem the MEC a little even though I think most over 60 guys wouldn't listen. I'm not holding my breath on that one either...
