Dude, relax. I was just saying that we seem to be reactionary instead of proactive. We cant seem to bring a new airplane online, predict staffing, offer a decent LOA, get EFB or any other technology installed, etc. Our company looks like we have too many departments to accomplish anything. I did'nt mean to hurt you feelings just stating the obvious.

Extra costs for too many in higher paying seats but a plan that would minimize training for the next 2 years.

Not saying you are wrong but my inclination is to say so. It would be odd for this to turn around so fast.

But if the 2 year estimate suddenly became 2.5 or 3 before another MOAB.....

More likely IMHO...your sources are messing with you (us)
sources? what sources???......this whole thing is a mess....staffing hasn't a clue what to do..either does JL....but let's watch how this plays out...especially after the next excess bid gets posted!...the stories out of RGS change weekly....this is a first in my almost 14 years(significantly overstaffed)....usually we have been way understaffed and draft volunteer flying is abundant, vacations are being bought back until it reaches a point to warrant a MOAB...this is new to the company as well....frustrating for all of us

I can't believe you replied to someone who has a license plate that has JetJok on it.

That's not what you were saying, or at least it's not the way I read it. This is what you were saying:

You didn't hurt my feelings, but you must admit, we've got a lot going on simultaneously, unlike your regional analogy, which is probably spending its time wondering if they should take 3 peanuts or 2 pretzels out of the little bags they offer as an in-flight snack. As pilots, we are not privy to El Picture Grande, and so when something happens, we are usually the last to know. That probably goes for our airline management too. Remember, the airline is a rather small portion of the overall picture, and I'd bet that even the VP of Flight Ops is preached to, and kept in the dark, a good deal of the time. Doesn't make it right. Just makes it the way it is. By the way, what with your extensive background in corporate structuring, maybe you could offer some suggestions as to how to run a more profitable company. I'm sure Fred would appreciate it.

I've had that plate since you were doing the breast milk thing with your momma. No reason to change it now.

i think we all know we couldn't run this place...frustration levels are high...no practice bids...no straight answers...downgrades...paycuts....FDA closings...age 65....egg cylinders in the catering...but my one leg afternoon departures are glorious!

Management? Planning? Crisis management? Remember the Christmas ice storm a few years back and what a cluster that was?

They've known this has been coming for a long time and in the end, they don't seem to have a plan. This was a problem they should have been planning for a long time ago. Certainly as soon as Ms Blakey-FAA Administrator made the government's plan to raise the retirement age clear.

And what ice storm has not been a cluster? Everyone has been! And always will be.... Bad analogy.

I don't have sources or any inside info, but I will say this. Across the industry, anytime there have been excess/displacement/bump bids, there never are just one, especially at airlines with multiple fleet types. It's just too complicated and more often than not stretches beyond what was originally intended and often runs into the next upswing. Why would we be any different?
