FDX MEC Leadership change

hmmmm
DW ("Dee W") sounds like GW ("Gee W")
Both good guys....patriots...guys I voted for and supported enthusiastically
Both have made a heck of a lot of good decisions and led us through some critical moments....we owe a lot to those times and have benefited from their actions.
Both have failed to follow a path that their "core support" wanted them to follow....(GW...immigration, etc, DW....age 60 and retroactivity)....leading to potentially devastating consequences unanticipated (by them).
GW will be leaving in January.....I think next summer is too long for DW.
Republicans went to Nixon and persuaded him to "do the right thing" and he stepped down.....perhaps it is time for the block reps to gather and hold an intervention and wield similiar influence.
A recall effort wouldl be fracturous at best.....DW stepping down....not so much. Perhaps that would be "the right thing to do"
On a side note, all along I forecasted similiar results of the retro and I was told by a plethora that they thought this scenario was far fetched. Like the FDA's and everything else, the response to the excess scenario was "don't worry, it would go senior". The next person that tells me that is tempting me to throw up on their shoe.....even if it is regarding holding 777.
I have thought for a while they would continue to excess they would put the lowest seniority guys in the cheapest seat (i.e. 727 plumber) to minimize costs and contain the excess there....but after reading BoyCaptain's remarks, I believe he hit the nail on the head perfectly. The junior seat by definition is the seat that is not bid voluntarily by anyone on the seniority list. In this case, it is now HKG F/O.
They may allow an excess (via those that "bid to relieve excess" ) in HKG (the new Junior seat). While they can't excess to an FDA, (the purpose being to avoid moving guys back), they may allow a "voluntary overage in anticipation of future staffing", or increase the number of vacancies near the end of the excess iterations. WB Nuggets may prefer to commute to those DDH HKG lines vs 727 S/O seats. The expansion capability in HKG will be then built-in, thus negating the necessity to improve the LOA and post another HKG bid. If they ever need more HKG CA, then those already stuck over there for their term will jump at the chance to go CA and they don't have to move anyone else there. This would also solve the "over 60 ICAO" issues we have talked about. They'll need more F/Os.
Without the Excess, the junior guys aren't forced to make the decision, they could just stay put in ANC or their direct hire 727 F/O seat. Now they will have to consider the pain of HKG or the pain of 727 S/O without passover.
While it is grotesque, it is a shrewd move by the company.
Even more grotesque is that the ND's whose only option to go left/right seat was HKG, will now be able to "back out" on successive excess iterations, thus allowing them to reclaim previous seats and never have to go to the HKG seat that was the only available one they could hold.
The predictions that we will only stagnate for 3 years not 5 were wrong. Even if it was only 3 years, that stagnation will only start after we absorb the 3-5 years of reverse seniority when we re-absorb the ND's. Thats when the clock gets hacked. First 3-5 years backward, then 3-5 years stagnation.....so for about half the list, we are looking at anywhere between a 6-10 year "hit". Not only is that a lot in lost potential wages, but it is a heckuva lot of B-fund accrual.

If we let him stay until next summer he can be rewarded for all his fine Union work with a National position. Make him be a line bubba again for a while so he can get a greater sense of what the firestorm he created with his "I know better than those 68% malcontents will ever know."
