FedEx Application Timing vs. Mil Retirement date
 

Any thoughts on how long before exiting the military to apply to FedEx (or any others for that matter)? Is there a no earlier than or no later than timeframe to consider? If I applied now and then got a call for an interview and subsequently hired several months before I'm available to start is this a problem? Or, will the company plug me into a later training class to coincide with my availability (within reason of course).

Lastly, what's a typical timeline from the time one first applies to the time an interview occurs?

Apply ASAP!!! Just give your availability date and let them make the call on when to interview. Do you have all your ducks in a row--ATP, FE written, FCC license, interview suit etc? Applying early and updating once every few weeks shows your continued interest.

As Seinfeld said ASAP!! Apply to both FedEx and UPS. I know of people who took leave to come interview and after they were hired, they were getting terminal leave through out new hire training. (which would definitely help at $2000 a month). If the company wants you, they will work with you, ie slide your new hire class date.

The timeline can vary drastically depending on your quals, who your recs are and how hard they're pushing for you, and a little bit of luck. It can be a couple weeks to over a year.
