More Fuel...

I heard in the turn last night from a trusted old IOE instructor that has a good friend that hangs around DM (company contract guy) that the company openers for the next contract will be mandatory 65 retirement (refiguring of the formulas), and the subsequent elimination of the B fund....

If you remember not too long ago the IRS thing that kinda spooled up everyone...

I had to pass it along it was too good of info, I say we start the 100% flying NOW especially with Peak coming around the corner!! That may well fix some of the "Excess" issues also....

O wait never mind that would entail the unification of the pilot group...My bad....:p

Our openers will be retirement at 55 with no penalty, doubling the B plan...

They're only openers...both sides start at the far end and work towards the middle. If you have any questions, please direct them to the negotiating committee.

I concur with FDXer. You can also go on the ALPA FDX board and ask your union reps questions there if it is too late to call. Posting just to post is bad form despite your connections.

Why wouldn't the company open with that position and make us negotiate (give up stuff) to get to where we are today? You didn't really think their openers would be better than what we have today, did you? You must be new to the contract negotiation game or maybe you are a management plant to get guys spooled up early over this?:eek::eek:

No one should be surprised by this....

I can hear it now

"...Well mister arbitrator the pilots fought for age 65, their union fought for it, we were against it, remember Mr Smith testifying before congress saying it was a bad idea..."

Nope not MGT just stating what I heard...

"Normal retirement age of 60 is in WRITING in our contract today! The only way it can change if if we VOTE for it. Don't forget that, don't let your friends and fellow pilots forget it. THE ONLY WAY NORMAL AGE 60 RETIREMENT CAN CHANGE IS IF WE VOTE FOR IT!

Unfortunately, we have a number of pilots who would vote out the A plan!!! We are our own worst enemies. Remember this down the road.

The only way we can lose it is vote for it, but the NC may give up a lot elsewhere in the contract to keep it.

Yeah and we have a number of pilots who would cancel the B Fund for a promise of an extra .25% on the A fund.

I would hope all of our pilots would vote out the A Fund if we got enough in return. I sure would.
