What's going on with Tradewinds?

Heard they stopped all 747 flying, got confirmation from a very unlikely source, has anybody heard anything from one of their folks?

Over on 'the other board' someone posted a link to the Detroit News newspaper site reporting that some Detroit city penion money was suposed to be invested, and now the city is looking at taking control of TW, but that Conry is telling them the company is close to BK and is laying off 70% of the workforce in an attempt to stay afloat.

Anyway, here's the article:

That was an interesting article, hopefully something good will come out of it for the guys and gals at Tradewinds.

all 747's are parked and the crews are on the street, sad story

Do they own the 747's, if so I guess it won't cost them anything to let them sit.

Parking a 747 (let alone a whole fleet) is expensive, whether you own it or not, there are lots of fixed costs, besides the cost of the "mooring" for the beast.

Looks like this will play out as yet another sad chapter in Part 121 ops this year. I sure hope that they can pull a rabbit outta their hat and make it work. If not, CK is buying airplanes.

Recently heard that the layoffs have now impacted the A300 crews too. Apparently they've pulled out of China too. Not sure if this is fact or not, but still sad for all of the crews--I used to work there and most of the pilots were really good guys...

That Tradewinds A300 is frequently in Indy. I've always suspected they were feeding their drugs (don't they fly for the legit drug manufacturers in P.R.?) into our system. Seems like a scope violation to me?:eek::eek:
