Default UPS stock purchase plan, why bother?

I should have heeded the advice of never putting large amounts of money into one company. Anyone else having regrets about buying UPS stock through the discounted stock purchase plan?

Buy and hold long term (and forget about it), and you will be a millionaire easily. I've been buying the max that I can.

JMHO.

I doubt you'll become a millionaire "easily" due to price appreciation on the stock. It would be due to the amount of money socked away, and I applaud you for that.

Well, it's all relative. Call me a Kool-Aid drinker (prefer pine-apple version) but I’m buying UPS shares right now.
Five months ago I put my stock purchase plan on hold ($0/pay check withdrawal) because I needed some cash to pay off old credit card debt (a.k.a. ‘new-hire pay’ blues).

Yesterday however, I changed my plan to $500/pay check of the Big Brown stock. I still need the cash however I believe this is the time to be buyin’ - when things settle down a bit I believe our stock will look like a great long term investment all over again... Just my 1/4¢

Haven't looked into it yet ... recently off of new hire pay and now eligible.

But is the stock purchased at a discount rate through our plan ?

I think so but unsure ...

Ebb and flow....like any stock out there, you're going to have ups and downs. The UPS employee stock purchase program should be a long term investment for any UPS bubba out there. I'm not crazy about UPS stock, but I throw a hundred a paycheck into the program, and forget about it. As I make more money, I'll probably up the amount, and just forget about it.

Correct, you get 10% off and I think they look at the average price in the previous 3 months... I've been comparing the price I purchased my shares for with a Fidelity and Ameritrade comparison and each time the price was more like 15% off so I think it's a good deal, especially for the long term investor.

Remember, you cannot sell any shares you buy for at least 2 years but I'm planning on holding mine for the long term anyways...

I'm not man enough to do it, but it seems as though every time UPS stock falls into the 60's, they find a way to get it back up to the 70's. I think that there could be money to be made on this trend. The problem is, I don't have the cajones!

I think they take 10% off the price of the stock at either the first day of the quarter or the last day of the quarter...whichever is lower. Whatever money you had deducted from the previous 90 days is used to purchase at the discount. Set it...AND FORGET IT!

The energy news letter that I subscribe to was recommending put options for a $64.7? strike price in early May. Didn't touch it because I only work in the energy sector. Should a, would a, could a.

It also predicted the price to be back in the 70's by mid 4th quarter; so I think I'll be buying a lot of it a these prices! I hope it is true not only for my portfolio, but for a future flying job @ UPS!

Cheers.
