Capital Air Cargo

I hear Capital Air Cargo is getting 757s to operate out of Miami to Latin America. Any info about any hiring into the 727 operation? What is the percentage of night/day flying? Do they hire directly into the FO seat or do you need to start as FE?

Anyone care to discuss life at Cappy? PMs are also welcome.

Check the thread on Capital that was posted on 6/24/2008.

Will do - thanks.

Aside from the comments on that other thread, does anyone know the minimums for capital as far as time and experience goes?

Anybody with answers to the original question?

Bill says thank you.

Worked there a few years ago. Back then they were only hiring PFEs. That could have changed though since the 757 is coming on line. Also they were upgrading from the back seat to the right seat. I was there for 7 years, and enjoyed it 95% of the time. Just got tired of the crew bonding at the HUB in TOL. So went back to flying heavies on international routes. Still have some good friends there.:)

Thanks for input 742drvr. Interesting because I've heard that elsewhere - what's so difficult about crew bonding at the TOL hub? Any details? Also, do the 727s use FMS? Unfortunately, I've been spoiled with glass on the 145. I hear the FO role in a 727 is pretty laid back too - is that true?

Bill, the best way to explain the "bonding" thing is, "30 guys sitting around for 3-4 hrs pi$$ing and moaning".:( You can maybe take a nap, if you can find a quiet spot, I usually ended up going back out to the plane, because it was quieter. In reality it was not all that bad. I enjoyed the time I was there. When I left, I think all the planes had GPS/FMS. Had one old TWA jet that was bare bones VORs, but I am sure it is no longer there. Maybe someone else can confirm. As far as the FO role, gotta do W/B, gear, flaps, and talk. Oh, and you get to fly a couple of legs per night.:D

You do get to do some good flying though, TS avoidance, Winter OPS (TOL can be pretty crappy in the winter) and you are all over the states, the carribean islands, S. and C. America, Mexico, and Canada. The 727 is an awesome jet to fly too, fast and maneuverable. Light wt landings can be a sporting though if it is very windy.

Again it has been a few years since I was there, some some things could changed. Maybe one of the Cappy guys on the board can give you some more updated info.

Enjoy the old 3 holer if you get it, I know I did:)
