FedEx get off the dime in China

FedEx needs to stop nickle and diming the crew force on the Hong Kong LOA. There is great opportunity in China (beyond FedEx's current alliance with a budget carrier). If LOA 2.0 goes down in flames as it should, FedEx needs to come to the table with real money. DW and FE need to get serious on the LOA. I would be interested in knowing what a Marine Corporal at the US consulate in Hong Kong gets for a housing allowance.

China Seeks Domestic Bliss
Forwarders and shippers say demand for intra-China transport is growing, but capacity is lagging behind
Ian Putzger

This year, DHL Global Forwarding intends to set up four hubs for domestic air freight transit, according to Steve Huang, country manager for China. By 2013, the company wants to have altogether 30 licenses to cover 70 cities.

Airbus estimates China's freighter fleet will grow 11-fold over the next 20 years. Forwarders would love to see this happen, and better tomorrow than the day after, as freighter lift is scant at the moment.

Keep in mind that inter-China flying has to be done with Chinese pilots. Your article seems to point towards China's domestic market.

Yes, but FedEx owns a large percentage of one of the China freight carriers. Cant remember the name. That stuff will feed into out International system....at least the stuff that will go int'l.

An E-1 gets $6,037 per month for rent + $571 per month for utilities.
An O-5 gets $ 6,746 per month for rent + $571 per month for utilities.
An E-1 gets $22.73 per day for COLA
An O-5 gets $47.05 per day for COLA

Yes, these figures are in US dollars!

Should be an easy way to negotiate. Use an independent organization (the DOD) to set housing and COLA figures. The figures fluxuate with the exchange rate. You could do the same should CDG get back in the picture.

Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) Query
Overseas Cost of Living Allowance Query

Good luck with your negotiations!

Joust

On top of that fred can deduct the first $10,000 a month in housing allowance. But our hard ball negotiators got us a fixed $2700.
