"O" and the hub-turn meeting
Anyone got any info on O's meeting last night in AOC? I heard no furloughs and that we'd not be overmanned in 18 months. Mostly good news. Maybe a SMALL excess bid after peak.

I was there and basically, I didn't take anything new from it.. Lots of same, Manage BLG, Economy, Fuel Sense, etc.. Seemed honest and sincere attempt to communicate with the crew force.. Do remember LOTS of "Who knows Tomorrow The Plan May Change Again" or words to that effect...
One point which was good to hear was that BLG reductions do equal a reduction in Flight Manager's pay also... Or so they say.?.?.? |

Are you suggesting the MEC officers should work less?
"(8) To earn a “work day” credit, the officer must be at the office for at least five hours of that day, or the required commute to/from his home of record exceeds five hours, or performs assigned union work while at his home of record a minimum of six hours in a day. Workdays computed under these guidelines would be limited to two (2) days in a four-week month and three (3) days in a five-week month. The assigned work at his home of record would have to be approved by the two other officers. These days would be reviewed and accounted for by the FOC in their semi-annual report." Five times 15 equals 75 hours in my book. For 98 hours of pay, that's a pretty good deal. So, no, I wouldn't want them to work less. It would hardly be worth driving in if they did... |

Why don't you go take a look at our MEC Policy Manual on the ALPA Website (click the link for the CBA, it's on that page). In case you don't want to, here's a snippet:

You do get paid for commuting to where you work, right? |

A pilot on reserve is still working the same number of days, and has seen his/her BLG reduced. So to answer you question, no I am not. I am suggesting that the pay formula be changed. |
Heaven forbid you change the milk formula over at the union hall.
