The only "unlimited" plan for new customers is Sprint, at least that I have found. But it really depends on how you access the internet. My kids and I will use it a ton at home via WIFI...not so much on the cell networks, so those GB's don't even count.
So far Sprint is going to run about $15 more a month than ATT (ATT's initial quote was incorrect, about $195 is more accurate).... Verizon came out to $25 more than Sprint. ATT offers refurb Iphones for $50.... Sprint offers them new for $99...but I can pick them up locally and not wait to have them shipped.... Choices......hmmmmm |
ATT will unlock your iPhone now (done through iTunes) if you are done with your contract and in good standing. I had mine done recently. Now when I travel overseas I will buy a local sim card and save $$$$

Apple vs. Samsung article
Apple vs. Samsung: Who's the king of the smartphones? | Apple - CNET News
excerpts: Apple is still the dominant smartphone maker, at least in the U.S., according to stats out today from NPD Group. The research firm pegged Apple's U.S. market share at 29 percent for the first quarter, up 7 percent from a year ago. At the same time, Samsung's share shot up by 140 percent. But at 24 percent of the U.S. market, it still trailed that of Apple last quarter. (Comments about Operating Systems vs. Manufacturer) Among mobile operating systems, Android grabbed even more ground against Apple's iOS last quarter, according to NPD. Android phones captured 61 percent of the U.S. market, up 24 percent from the prior quarter. At the same time, Apple's iOS share dropped to 29 percent from 41 percent in last year's final quarter. |
I don't imagine he's buying enough phones to affect the market share significantly.

Good point :D
Just thought it was an interesting article talking about market trends for Apple v. Android. I think there's a false perception in the US that Apple phones are a superior product and dominate the market here & everywhere. But if these stats are true/correct, Android phones seem to have a significant market share advantage |

curious, also, have you found out if any of the providers give a FedEx employee discount on the monthly services? do those prices you are stating include the discount (if any)?

All 3 (verizon, ATT and sprint) give the discount. But I got varying answers on which parts of the plans are discounted. I believe it's only on the basic first line. IE I will get the % off on my line only...not the added lines and not the data pkgs. Adds up to about a 20-25 dollar discount.
The base plan $110.00 (Everything Data - 1500 shared Anytime minutes) is discounted, but NOT the additional lines. Each additional line is $19.99 PLUS $10.00 for "Premium Data add-on" (for all 3G or better capable phones) - NO DISCOUNT Sprint used to discount ALL charges (before taxes/fees/surcharges) - but they switched to this new method last year some time which isn't as good of a deal, but still gives you a little bit of a discount. Still - even with less of a discount - Sprint truly unlimited is a better overall deal (for us since we have good Sprint coverage - although NOT 4G yet - where we are - and most places domestically that I fly to) - no overage additional costs & no worries about exceeding limits is nice. Thanks for the info - I was wondering if AT&T and Verizon did FedEx discounts on the plans as well as the equipment - that answers it for me. |
Sprint is switching to 4G LTE this summer. Dont expect their current 4G network coverage to get much better. And make sure the Sprint 4G phone you buy is LTE.
