FDX 757 Open Time

I was just goofing around on vips and checked open time on the 757 CA. There are several what appears to be 115 block mem-mem flights, most probably to do flt test. My question is that they only pay 3 hrs pay. Is this in compliance with the CBA? Any flt test guys out there?

I called the other day and to book a JS and was told it was a 757 and as of July 15th we could JS on it. It was a 99XX flight number. I didn't take the JS since I figured it wouldn't go on time if at all. Not sure what's up with it.

DCA/IAD ramps have been doing 757 training for several weeks, also know pilots currently in 757 training ...

Huck 07-23-2008 05:25 PM

Flight test is done out of BFM.

The MEM flights are training and proving runs. I saw them out there two days ago. Pretty.....

fedupbusdriver 07-23-2008 05:46 PM

Look at open time. These flts are out of mem, and are round robin 115 block. My question is why do they only pay 3 credit hrs? Should they not pay 6 hrs?

Huck 07-23-2008 05:58 PM

Must be a standards/flex thing. Flight test trips are paid like any other trip.

MaydayMark 07-23-2008 05:59 PM

Do the Flight Test folks (and tech pilots also for that matter) get paid as if they were on Reserve? I think I heard that once?

fedupbusdriver 07-23-2008 05:59 PM

I don't care who is flying them, are they per the CBA?

USMCFDX 07-23-2008 06:15 PM

The IND ramp is trained also.

I do not know about pay, but everyone sure has some cool new 757 polo shirts.

If that were the case the trips would pay 4xx hrs wouldn't they?

DallasGatr 07-23-2008 06:37 PM

According to the IAD ramp a couple of days ago, the 757 was flying REVENUE flights last week..........

And IND. B757 taxied in behind me in IND a couple weeks ago and they rode the bus in with us - those guys dress as we all should - polo shirts and khakis! They were telling us that they were to do the FAA proving runs last week and/or this week, and start revenue service early Aug.

Yes. MPDP-1 = 3 hours.

FXDX 07-24-2008 06:13 AM

MPDP-1
Duty periods during a trip, when such trip contains at least one layover, shall have an MPDP-1 of 3 CH.
MPDP-2
A duty period comprised exclusively of a trip which departs and returns to base in the same duty period shall have an MPDP-2 of 6 CH.

No layover, it looks to me like the trip should pay 6 hours.

Most Test guys are on a pay only status, so they are paid their line guarantee for the month regardless of what the trips pay. If they work more hours than their RLG/BLG then they would get draft for the overage.

In this case it looks like the pairing is being built for scheduling purposes and the pilots who actually fly the trips, if they are real trips, are going to get paid their BLG/RLG regardless. Those pairings, if flown, however, should be worth 6 hours.

fedupbusdriver 07-24-2008 06:51 AM

That is the point that I was making/ asking about. It does not matter if the pilots are on pay only, or rsv, or draft. The trips should comply with the CBA.

FDX is going to fly 757s into National?

Yes ... the 757's are Stage III and can land during the overnight noise curfew. The 727's couldn't do that, they were too noisy, even with the "hush" kits

You misspelled "has been flying"! ;)

BoilerUP 07-24-2008 04:36 PM

Where do FDX's airplanes park at DCA, down by the Banjo or on the Signature ramp?

I was based at DCA until late November, so all of this is news to me...I can think of an AWAC guy that lives in Memphis now that is probably always begging for a ride!

Checking 757 open time in your spare time? No comment.

fedupbusdriver 07-25-2008 04:02 AM

During a hub turn. Hardly as much of a waste of time as your precious comment Ham.
