Rumors or darts..... just passing a cheap $.02
Politicians have one motive and one motive only: get themselves on the gravy train and stay there. If they cancelled their visit(as if it would have done any good, but they must keep up appearances), someone or some entity told them they were barking up the wrong tree.

In any event can anyone recall a politico actually generating a real job in the last half century?

Does anyone actually believe that if this deal is delayed or railroaded that DHL will continue to dump billions of dollars down a rathole?

I don't really care what happens to DHL at this point. My dream scenario involves DHL leaving the USA with their sturmgewehrs held high above their heads and losing any hope of open skies. All the while losing three more billion dollars and any hope of ever operating with impunity in this country again. Finally, all the ILN folks participate in a Federal and State funded grab-fest.

Latest news from the B&G is that the deal is OFF. We'll see come Monday am.

C'mon, 8-capt. You know that the post was a question about it. He asked because he heard a rumor that his buddies had heard a rumor about some politicians not showing up at a rally. No news links, no credible info. I would think this is far from saying that the deal is off.

Hey guys, Kentucky has politicians too. They will be fighting for the new jobs at UPS just like anyone else. Right or wrong, that is what they will do, fight for jobs in their district.

I also heard on the B&G that 777's were coming in 08.

As I think about this, and I'm not saying the deal is going to be completed. But if this deal were dissolve due to politicians, do you think they would cancel their visit to Wilmington. If it is any politician I've come to know through observation, they would be in Wilmington on Monday with a banner so big you could see it from space that says, "10,000 American jobs saved." Politicians don't cancel visits for these kind of things.

Good point. They'd probably roll out W's "Mission Accomplished" banner.

The difference is OHIO is a swing state in an election year with no incumbent running. Nothing against the fine state of KY, but Ohio has a deep seated history of having a big say in who is elected President.

On a side note has UPS said if any jobs would be created by this union or can they simply add the weight to the current system without any major hiring.
