ALPA: The Pilots Union
ALPA received the following letter today.
To Whom It May Concern,
I resigned my post at UPS due to my refusal to participate in several unethical initiatives after having joined the ALPA picket-line outside UPS World Headquarters today. I have been a UPS employee for 10+ years, but after realizing today, that my work was being used to facilitate similar cost-cutting initiatives dwarfing even that of the destruction of 10,000 families, as well as communities, I dropped my name badge to the floor in protest, and tendered my verbal resignation on the spot. A few hours after being suspended and sent home, UPS officially accepted my resignation. I am a 36 year-old caucasion male from Snellville, GA supporting a family of 9 dependents. Enough was enough. With three masters and a PhD in the works, I could see no reason to continue my employment with a company that says one things and does something completly opposite. After 10+ years, it's job-hunting time again.....
Sincerely,

God Bless him. The corporate world isn't what it used to be. The things some are asked to do must surely try a man to the very core of his soul. Like the Randy Travis song, "I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you It's what you leave behind you when you go."

I'm gonna call BS on this one too.
In fact, if it is possibly true (it isn't), this guy should be ashamed of himself for not providing for his family.

Three Masters and a PhD in the works? Does Grenada still do mail order post graduate degrees?

The letter was sent by ALPA to all DHL pilots after the close of business today. Whether it's legit or not, and what position the writer held at UPS, I can't say. But there is a person by his name listed in the white pages for Snellville, GA.
It sort of makes you wonder, doesn't it?
This guy may have worked at UPS, but I don't think he was very far up the food chain. I was surprised that ALPA chose to forward his letter.

I think he/she went back to school... Sorry folks couldn't resist.
I've stated before that I'm not a fan of this deal, however I've an even harder time understanding DHL employees protesting outside UPS venues. I don't think that makes any sense and frankly it might be somewhat counterproductive. Having said that, I do understand that all DHL employees are desperate and want to be heard loud and clear; I truly feel sorry for their sake.
To be honest with you all, I'm surprised we don't see letters such as the one just posted here where people resign en masse from DHL due to the shady treatment they're getting. That would make much more sense to me but then again, I know it's very tough to find any airline related jobs right now so it'd be a very tough decision...
Either way, I wish all our Abx and Astar brothers and sisters the very best.
