Not me. I think we are still making money. I think we signed a contract that limited how much we can make in good times and limits how little we make it bad times. In January the DC-10 goes away (AKA generates zero revenue). Some DC-10 guys don't have class till July (darn seniority), with your logic they should be paid zero and not call it a furlough.

We could argue why not 49/59 or 48/61 till the cows come home. However, the broader goal of this stipulation is that we all take a hit before we let any man go. That is a good thing. Now if the company can show that a particular fleet is not generating the revenue, all else being equal than yes I would say this aircraft group is going to have less BLG associated with it than another aircraft group. I look at the BLG difference not so much as an attack on a particular pilot group but addressing where we get our most bang for the buck from AC profitability. As I read the email, there would still be no furloughs no drop below the 48/60 just a difference in BLG between the AC groups.
Why should any particular pilot (AC) group take a backseat to any other group? The contract sets the minimum bid period guarantee at 68/85. Everyone should be making that at the minimum. Buying up lines to the minimum when we are fat in a particular group is the same as paying draft when we are short in a particular group. It is just the cost of doing business. When profits become negative (ie the company is actually loosing money) I will start to worry, until then they are just trying to see how cheap they can get us to go (like the FDA LOA). The only way to go below 68/85 is to announce they are going to furlough. I dont think we are anywhere near that yet. |

All I can say is, I've never heard so much whinning from a bunch of know-it-all pilot's in my 35 year career. You guy's are the one's who voted for the contract. You guy's are the one's who voted for the LOA. You guy's are the one's who flew draft and volunteer during negotiation. You guy's are the one's flying disputed pairing's because all you care about is the immediate gratification and screw what it does to the rest of the crew force. You guy's are the one's who don't step up to the plate and vote during the duration of the contract for the item's that need our attention. Get real. Quit whinning and live with it. We've done it to ourselve's. Vote these moron's that run this organization out and get people in there that really do care about their fellow crew-member's and not just the ability to get paid for dropped trip's.

Not sure where you got all the "You guys" this and that from. :confused: It is nice to rant once in a while but don't throw all of us under the train because we complain. Many are doing their part to try and make this a better place to work.
