fellow UPSers
hello fellow upsers...so i have kind of an odd question but i currently work at CINOH hub and they have pt supervisor spots opening up so what im wondering is if i was to cross the line would i still be eligible to get hired as a pilot a few years down the road? one big reason i wanna go to the dark side is because its easier to xfer and i wanna xfer down to the airhub to get my foot in the door.
also someone who works at my hub who was born and raised in louisville said that you can get hired as an hourly to work on jet engines and they train you all the way...i was not sure what exactly this position entailed or what prereqs you need but i figured some current pilots maybe would know.
thanks

ya this is another concern of mine considering that pts get screwed...but on a twilight shift there would be ample time during the day(or night) to get my 135 mins but from then on weather im union or non im pretty sure il have to quit to get the rest unless something like overnight flying through airnet could fit into my schedule...i dunno its a few years off but i just thought id ask

I know of several guys who had various jobs at UPS, one was a p/t supervisor..they eventually got hired as pilots..some quit their previous positions to get more flying time and eventually got rehired..I think the important thing is to do a good job for them, regardless of what it is...that will definitely help when you apply for a pilot job...good luck!!

Yes there are some folks who were ground side managers at UPS. I think what they actually had to do was quit UPS all together, work on the flight time, then re-apply to UPS hoping to get hired as flight crew. Not positive about this but fairly certain.
I'm sure its somewhat of a risky proposition, but if aviation is what you love and you want to fly airplanes this might be what you have to do. Of course I would check it out thoroughly before making any big career decisions.
Best of luck to you in your aviation endeavors.
