UPS DC-8 SO training moved up
Understand that the probationary guys who were scheduled to start SO training in March and April have been moved up to a class in September. Any thoughts out there as to the reason.

If true, means no new hiring and they expect no/delayed DHL deal. That time slot was for newhires. Since they don't have the DHL issue presently, they will go ahead and move fwd on the original displacement bid.

When the deal was announced, it was expected to be inked by now, displacement of 74 classics was being done anyway. They changed the training dates to accomodate hiring in the event it was signed about this time. Suspect they just reverted back to the original 74 classic displacememt training timeline.
However, your assesment is correct, you have learned well. <g>

Wasn't FE training delayed for most of these folks because the position they were displaced from (ANC -400 FO) was deemed "critical" ?
Maybe not so critical now that others (former FEs) have completed training for the ANC positions ...
And something I read, back when this last realignment/displacement bid was open mentioned that the DHL deal would not be "finalized" until late August at the earliest ... but I can't find the source. It was important to me because I then knew that a potential DHL deal would have no affect on the displacements, it would be too late.

All DC-8 seats are also on the critical list. (wonders never cease). The driving event on this displacement was the 74 classics going away which had nothing to do with the DHL announcement. The 90 something folks on the whale caused the movements. After they saw final impact of the whale displacements (lots of last minute mind changing went on) , they started to implement a training plan to minimize the impact of crews on certain fleets. DHL was calculated among other issues. Now don't think they are, so going to 'UPS only' planning. Stuff changes nearly daily.
Regarding the date, think maybe it was on an early CP line, or Dispatch perhaps. (Don't have time to look just now)
