Default Question for Fed Ex pilots

Just a quick question, are you getting B757's to replace the 27 eventually or was it 737's? I can't remember which I read a long time ago. Thanks

Depends upon which fictional management story you care to believe. I forget which I heard first, but one supposed option was to replace the 727 with 737s from USAirways. Then we heard (or was it the other way around...it's been told so many times that I forget...) the 727 replacement was the 757. And it has flip flopped ever since. On our company web site where we post our equipment upgrade desires, there is a place holder for Memphis-based 737 but it is just that, a place holder. A Memphis-based A380 has been a place holder on that page for the last five years.

Guys who have been with the company a lot longer than I say they've heard of a 727 replacement "just around the corner" now for many, many years.

Post Two cents worth...

Actions speak louder than words ... the additional A300s/A310s that keep showing up might just be OUR BOEING REPLACEMENT. If the 'Bus can do BUR, then HTS and ROA might be down the line....

Besides, why create a whole new training pipeline when you can eliminate one (and enlarghe an existing one)?

Some people like the short runways, fog and LDA approaches that those airports frequently offer--I don't happen to be one of those folks. Nice cities, but potentially challenging airports.

You 'bus guys better be careful or you are going to start coveting the really cherry 727 layovers like Flint and Grand Forks!

Actually I didn't have a problem with any of the 727 layovers. I enjoyed every place I stayed (although some of those layovers consisted solely of sleep/meal/sleep/showtime).

I only "visited" GFK on reserve--YWG/GFK/MEM so I can't honestly tell you what the town is like. The beautiful thing about places like GFK or Casper or Witchita is you are in and out--no traffic! I would much rather do an out-and-back to ICT than ATL.

Let's look at this from a hotel perspective though...the Comfort Inn in Flint or the Concorde in CDG...hmmmm...

Trust me, there is no, "in and out" when it comes to any downtown hotel in Paris.
