Good Luck
I believe he might have based his comment referring to the hiring of Evergreen Pilots. There was a rumor out there that UPS would not hire any Evergreen Pilots (long story). However, I think they have hired about 3 in the last 2 years. So, I think you have a chance as a ABX or Astar pilot. Good Luck.

I was referring to Challenge Air and Emory. But lets hope this is different.

I figure as long as the Purple guys are going to revive their poolie thread then I might as well do the same for Brown. That's assuming of course that Brown still has a pool and we haven't all been flushed.

I know you guys are wrapped up in furlough mitigation and displacements and nobody is thinking about hiring anytime soon. But that being said, when do you think Brown will need to hire again? With the way things look now, do you see any hiring before 2012 or is it too far off to even have a guess?

(The forums are a lot more fun when there is hiring going on!)

Razor – I just finished my recurrent and as always got lots of very accurate information from our van drivers, soda machine vendors and ground instructors (in that order)…

Well, actually after having a chance to listen in on many discussions at the training center (who said we go there to study?) it does seem like the things are ‘bottoming out’ sooner than we expected (good news) but the company will not want to admit it for quite some times because of the MOU agreement, etc…

I am cautiously optimistic and of course very hopeful that by the end of 2010 or no later than 2011 we’ll be hiring again… Of course, not too long ago I predicted the oil price would reach $200 a barrel by 2008 so what do I know?

As far as those in the pool… IF I was a person in the pool every time there’s a job fair our recruiters attend (not sure if we’re attending any right now except the OBAP and WAI) I’d try to show up just to shake their hands so they know you’re still interested and remember your face… Just my thoughts, I’m sure I’m wrong here too…

Last I checked in the training center the pilot hiring department cubicle was empty and full of spider webs. I'm thinking in 2011 you will see the cubicle alive with action again.

Default Good to hear talk about hiring....

As a long time poolie, I am glad to hear the talk about possible hiring in the far off future.

Keep the info. coming and maybe someday the wait will be worth it!

Anyone have any idea how many in the pool and what the status is?

Dumped, Waiting for a class date, or should we prep for another interview?

Thanks again!!!
Johnny

The last time there were people in the pool with no hiring for a while, everyone had to reinterview.

Our seniority list has been shrinking for 2+ years now. There were 1426 Captains back when the retirement changed. This bid has 1293 Captains.

133 fewer Captains after 2.5 years.

What caused this?

Management pilots ... more productive lines ... not replacing retirees ?

Fill-in-the-blank ?

But our list is SHRINKING. If you are in the pool, grab an oxygen tank or climb in a life boat. Its going to be awhile before we hire again.

By the time we need to hire, we will most likely be in negotiations. Has UPS ever hired while in negotiations ? ... I don't think so.

Unfortunately, I do not see UPS hiring until the over 60's turn 65 (2013)

I hope it is earlier than that!
