FDX: How many pilots are going past 60
I sat down with the 2008 ALPA calendar and found the list of those pilots turning 60 for each month. Then I plugged the names into the VIPS calendar search window.
Obviously, some of the calendar first names may not match the company ones. Also, there may be younger pilots with the same exact names, though I tried to look at their employee numbers to make sure they were in the ballpark.
As of Aug. 19, 2008, here are the retiree totals versus the months they turned 60:
Month.......# of pilots turning 60..........# of those who are retired now

Jun ......................7........................... ......1
Jul ......................14.......................... .......3

TOTALS ................73 ..............................18 (24.7%)
I'll try to do this again at the end of the year, and then again later. We can see what the trend turns out to be.....

Nice analysis. Just goes to show that the greed is alive and well.
Greedy, greedy money grubbing bastages. I guess that's why they call it the root of all evil.....

At UPS I would bet that MAYBE 10% of the over 60 gang have retired. 90% have stayed. ANC ops looks like an Old Folks Home lobby. Thanks Prator.

I'm not near 60, didn't like the way 65 was implemented, but just a word of caution to the keyboard commandos.
Under the rule of Federal law, what you are saying here is quite similar to a racial slur. Away from the keyboard and in the cockpit it might not be so funny and may result in actions that you won't be laughing about very long.
Nomex on.
