FedEx - DH question

If you have a coach DH on a pairing (4.5 hours block) and you have the $$ in your travel bank, can you upgrade to first class with the extra travel bank $$?
Thanks.

Simple answer - NO

You can request a First Class upgrade but the extra $$ comes out of your pocket.

sorry

It is the length of the actual deviation dhd that determines upgrade, if > 5hrs then yes!!!

Open Mind 08-24-2008 04:43 PM

Max kts is correct if the deviation is < 5hrs

I know about the >5 hour thing. I was just wondering if using extra travel bank $$ to buy a FC ticket when you weren't normally due FC (i.e. less than 5 hour flight) was kosher or not. I've got about 2-grand that's going to go to waste this month - just wondering if I could make my trip a little nicer.
Sounds like the answer is no. Thanks for the help.

Big fat limo to and from the airport...otherwisde, you still get to sit next to the person asking for the seatbelt extender:eek:

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Put it on the card, the worst thing they'll do is take it out of your check later. Think of it as a loan!

There may be a way...I buy my own tickets using the FedEx corporate card and travel almost exclusively on Delta (I live in ATL). When my bank "cup" runneth over I will often buy a fully refundable ticket. In many cases this pops me into first. Not sure how that works on other airlines, but certainly no one can fault you for buying a refundable ticket.

Is the 5 hr dev rule, based on the "trip scheduled dh time"...or...the " actual scheduled dh time" on the flight you actually deviate on?

Similarly, is the 5 hrs based on "flight time"...or "total travel time" (i.e. flight time, plus layover connection, plus flight time)?

Thanks.

It is originally based on the d/h block times. If you deviate and the deviation routing block time is >5hrs you qualify for first class assuming your bank will cover it. So ... you can always schedule your d/h to be greater than the contractual 5 hrs (i.e. SEA-DFW-EWR instead of SEA-MSP-EWR).
