NAC is looking for 737 crews and it says it has and is getting more 767s?

Hmmm...NAC was one of the vendors for Amazon's original Aerosmith experiment. Their role was more limited than ATSG: they flew 737s, and their routes were ended while ATSG's were continued, and ATSG's routes morphed into a long-term contract. But this is interesting given that there has continued to be talk about Amazon wanting another 20 freighters from a third vendor, of which Connie was presumed to be the logical one. On the other hand, lots of folks are trying to fly 767s and 737s for DHL, so it may be nothing new. And it's hard to imagine NAC having the management and operational depth to handle a that-significantly-sized 7-day-per-week track-charter-type operation.

It's not as far fetched as you might imagine. ABX has been flying 767's for Aloha. Aloha's CBA says their pilots have to fly a new type after two years. Two years is close. Their crew costs are relatively low. Aloha and NAC are owned by Saltchuk. Who knows how deep their pockets are? I think they're closely held.

The one thing I know is their CEO David Karp is very smart and persistent. (We went to the same Northern school of hard knocks!)

Management and operational depth? Hell we prove every day those things have nothing to do with landing long term contracts. Atsg continues to prosper in spite of the former!

NAC is growing. New contract is being negotiated. Pay is way lower than industry standards. Saltchuk are smart investors. That being said. Why even look at working there? The pay is bad, when you get on you will be on the end of the seniority list away from home every month making about the lowest wages in the industry. Atlas is hiring, ABX is hiring, hell almost everyone is hiring. If your quality of life is going to suck you might as well make some money.

I know the pay isnt great, but both schedules are amazing in my book. And I am hoping that the pay goes up with the next contract.

So how many 737s now and how many 767s coming?

Is the new Chief Pilot a good guy?

Braniff DC8 10-21-2016 02:39 AM

App is in. Any latest?? Thanks.

The rumors are that interviews are set to begin in 2 weeks, hiring into the 737. Awaiting contract talks so that they have more to offer new hires. As far as the 3 Miami 767's, NAC is asking how many current line pilots want to upgrade, then filling the 737 voids with new hires. Current CP seems to be well liked.
