UPS airplane models?

I’d like to buy a few airplane models but noticed that the UPSers website (Corporate Express) only offers the small 5-inch airplane models (1:400 scale). They used to sell a few larger size models too (1:100 maybe?) but I don’t see them on the website anymore.

Any suggestions?

In particular I’m looking for the B757, 767 and the 747-400 models. Ideally I'd prefer the 1:130 scale but I'll look at other scales too.

Please post a link if you know a place where I might purchase those airplane models.

Thanks.

I wish I could still hold PacRim trips - I'm sure I could buy them cheaply in Clark... :(

jonnyjetprop 09-16-2008 05:59 AM

We have a captain at World that has models made in the PI. I'll see if he does UPS also.

Atlantic-Models, Inc. - Best Quality Custom Scale Airplane Models - Built to Order!

Very High Quality Resin Cast models from almost all commercial carriers in mostly 1/100 scale.

They even have the very hard to find 727-QF in the old paint scheme or new paint

I sent you a PM

I called Corporate Express about something else that I ordered from their website. And there were some things that I saw in a catalogue that were not on the website, but they said they have them.

So just because you did not see it on their website, doesn't mean something is unavailable. Although it would help if you had a catalogue number ... FWIW

:D

I had the World Captain do a bunch for my dad and I. He does any airline/airplane and military stuff too. He personalizes the base with your name and wings/squadron patch. He'll e-mail you pictures of your wings and the current livery to make sure everything is right on. He even Fed-Ex's the models to your home. I think I paid $65 for a 18" wingspan MD-11 and it looks awesome. Drop me a pm if you want pics or the guys e-mail. I would feel bad posting personal info on an open forum.

I have the catalog in front of me, and I see that they sell models in 1:100 and 1:400 scales. For the 1:100, here are the prices:

757 - $134.95
767 - $174.95
744 - $215.95 The catalog also shows a 1:200 scale for the 744 at $169.95.

I'm not sure why the big ones don't show on the website. I've never been there. Hope this helps!

I assume that it is DM. If so, his work is very nice. I emailed him about the thread.

If you want custom mahogany models, try esnacko.com

I've gotten an 18" and a 10" model of the A300, and both look great! A link to a 76 they made is here on the 2nd page: Custom Aircraft Models

I have no clue. I get it just like the rest of the mailings from UPS.

Call them and they will send you the catelog. That's how I got mine a long time ago. I receive one each year now.

These models are the best I've seen. They also give UPS employees a nice discount. This is because UPS is very particular and protective about their logo, and they are approved by UPS to use the UPS logo, for sales to UPS or UPS employees only. You need a UPS ID badge if you go in yourself; or if ordering over the phone they will need your ID number, and they will verify employment. If not, they won't build it. That's what they told me anyway when I went in to order a 767. Same for the 1/400 metal models built by Gemini Jets. The only place to get those new is from UPS if you are a UPS employee.

So while there are other shops out there where you can get UPS airplanes, those might be "bootlegs" if not approved by UPS. Probably not a big deal though as it probably isn't too hard to reproduce the logo and livery.

My Atlantic Models 767 is 1/100 scale, and I got it for about $210 (usually about $250), and is perfect as far as I can tell.

Also, I've been told mahogany models can deform over long periods of time if exposed to high humidity. Not so with resin.

Hmmm, besides my Jepps and some insurance papers and the UPS Dispatch magazine I don't get any "other mailings" - I feel left out... ;)

Good idea, the 'web catalog" seems to be slighty outdated...

Thanks for all the suggestions folks - I'll keep looking.

...or maybe this is it? ;)

I know, I actually ran into him once but now with the age 65 deal I probably won't see Clark for several years and I don't want to wait that long to purchase those airplanes... All of my ‘buds’ who could have brought me a few airplanes every now and then have very low seniority as well so I don’t expect them to fly a Pac Rim trip anytime soon either…

I'll PM the email address, but this was on he bar and grill as well:
If you are going to CRK, you can get a jeepney for 9 pesos to take you
to the Friendship Gate where you will find 4 or 5 little shops that will
make you any painted wooden airplane model you wish if you give them a
photo of it. They cost anywhere from $30-$45 depending on how detailed
you want it.

I dropped some 19 numbers thanks to the "fair pilots act" so I doubt I'll be going to CRK for the next few years... :(

Weird I got an email with this posting but don’t see the post itself anywhere in the thread? Did the censorship get your reply? In the past I've gotten several emails with links to replies to certain posts only to find out the thread had been closed or the reply had been deleted. Wonder if the same happened here?

Either way, I checked it out, doesn’t look like they’re selling any UPS airplanes…

Then again, according to the Airline Pessimists Central I am about to lose my job very soon so who cares about airplane models, right?

You can also try one of the shops at the JLGA Market and Mall on Gordon Street in Olongapo, P.I. It is called Survival Arts, run by Greg Quiambao. The phone numbers are 011-0910-295-1759 or 011-0928-576-0356, and the E-mail address is either [email protected] or [email protected] (I've got two business cards, and I'm not sure which one is the current number and address).
Send them an E-mail with the photo of the aircraft you want, and they will be able to make an exact copy. They can make any kind of aircraft or ship model, and their quality is very good. Prices depend on size, with most models under $100. Give 'em a call (only 2 cents/minute using Skype)

FliFast 10-28-2008 12:06 AM

[email protected] is Lyndon's email in Clark.

Also, in Itae won, in Seoul...across from the bus stop is a place with a blue awning. I forgot the name of it because I've usually had one too many, but they have models inside the store. It is right across the street from the McDonalds.

I second hyperone's recommendation. I've used Greg a number of times, and the quality of his work is next to none. They also make intricate desk-mounted name plates, and other interesting things, all from local woods. He will ship, via FedEx, and probably also via UPS, back to the USA.
