ACMI/Cargo haulers starting there own union!
The big boys don't care much about the little ACMI guys. I think ACMI/Cargo should have there own union. Or at least a single CARGO union. Then maybe the guys working the back side of the clock can get a little respect. Just an idea, not trying to start a b&%ch session. Fed and Brown have good contracts, but the smaller ACMI guys are sucking hind teat. Doing the same thing for not near the return. What do you folks think?

It's not the union, it's the business model and resulting profitability.
Look at Netjet's contract (Teamsters). Look at ABX Air's contract (Teamsters). Look at FedEx (ALPA) and UPS (IPA). Three different unions, but all have super contracts due to the fact that their members' companies make money.
ALPA and the rest are well aware of backside of the clock flying. I don't think a single cargo union is necessary, 742drvr.

Just my thoughts, but cargo always moves. People don't (business folks not included). As far as I can tell the major unions haven't done much for the freight business. ALPA nor Teamsters. There are guys into their 3rd year of talks (contract expired) and they still don't have a contract. The point being, they are ALPA and because there only have a couple of hundred guys, they are peons and can't get any support. I think all freight haulers should join up. We don't drive buses, we drive trucks!
OK I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Atlas guys will differ in their opinion. It depends on what you are comparing-pay at Atlas is substantially higher and they get profit sharing and fly newer (-800's on order) aircraft. Connie gives you guaranteed days off and home basing.
