Next direction for ABX & ASTAR
Well as we all know DHL has pushed on the toilet handle and is watching there USA operations swirl around and around until they are down the tubes gone forever. After that is all said and done what till the next direction be for ABX and ASTAR? Will they shift to all ACMI to survive? What do you think the fleets will look like after the toilet flushes for DHL? I think they will survive. ABX will get rid of all a/c without cargo doors. Don’t know how many 9’s they will keep. And ASTAR will get rid of some a/c I think mainly 727’s. This is just my feeling on how things will end up, but we could always see another door open! :(

It's my understanding Dasburg has already indicated they (Astar) will cease to exist should this UPS deal go through.
They have no plan B. Word |

ASTAR seemed like a good company to me that would be a shame! They can’t survive at all with their other contracts?

Why would ATSG want to keep ABX, we are paid too much, have a pension, get too many days off, dont work enough, have no IRO's, have too much vacation, sick days and health benefits (what else did management say....) oh yeah we also drink too much bottled water........
ABX will go away, Joe has ATI, and the even lower cost carrier Cappy. The 767 with doors will go somewhere, either ATI or dry leased to another company. Of course with ATSG stock at .38 does it really matter. Why have the board members much less the major stockholders not set siege to Hete's office???????? You would have thought there would be a run on torches and pitchforks at the local Tractor Supply.... |

Astar only serves DHL. Always been that way. We have a handful of DOD work, but not enough to maintain operations.

ABX 767's cant go to ATI because of the ABX scope clause. The only way to get around the scope clause is to give up the certificate. ATI is doing pretty well and actually dont have the aircraft for much more lift. HOWEVER, negotiations have gone on more more than 4yrs and will end very abruptly sometime in the very near future. No one at ATI wants anything to do with making money at the expense of ABX.
