FDX - Why Negotiation leadership change?
Just got off the phone on the subject of why the NC chair resigned.
Got it from the source... not a source... he was fired.
FE knows what he's doing in the negotiating arena, smart, headstrong, determined, proven and result driven, as well as dedicated to the pilots... everything I think we would need for a negotiation committee chair... but once again I am at odds with the MEC Chair... DW fired him. I plan to call DW on Monday morning, early and ask why.
what say you guys?

Thanks for the timely up to date info ... I wonder if that means DW already has a better alternative? Sure hope so ...
As much as I'm opposed to some (maybe more than some?) of the MEC's policies, it's important that the MEC and the NC are "on the same page." I like FE and hope we'll let him know his efforts on our behalf were appreciated.
Anybody have a good recommendation for a replacement? Who would want the job ... talk about a totally thankless job!*?

I believe that our union is now so fractured that some housecleaning is long overdue, starting with the three top officers. I also believe that if we didn't have agency shop at this particular time, a lot of our membership would be voting with their feet. I don't endorse this policy because I don't think you can solve a problem from the outside, but have formed that impression from the comments I've heard here and out on the line.
I also called my LEC rep, who can give no details of the MEC's discussion of this event due to a confidentiality agreement. He's aware of the growing discord with DW by the membership, but to this date, no one has submitted any type of motion to alleviate the problem. I suggested to my LEC that a “no confidence recall” might be in order. Personally, I think it’s time for someone who can unify this union and DW, DM and WR are not among them.
As you can see, I’m not a regular poster but lurk daily and no, I’m not management and have never been management.

ALPA is happy they convinced you guys with deep pockets to sign on the dotted line. You voted for it, I'm happy to say "I did not"! Good to see we now have agency shop! BTW there is no way that agency shop will ever, ever go away.

Time to stand up for Fred
I have known FE for several years and spent numerous hours on the JS discussing issues. I really can't think of a better choice for us. He was willing to listen to every point I ever wanted to make. He was willing to call a spade a spade. Even when I didn't want to hear it. He had lots of civilian training in negotiating and management which I thought was great.
I think it's time to call our reps and demand his reinstatement and the resignation of whoever called for his head. This is an OUTSTANDING time to show our unity. They want us to stand together on an issue. Here is an opportunity to stand-up and make a stand on an issue that will not hurt anyone to stand up and be heard.
