UPS - Does Obama win = Flight Managers into IPA?
Supposedly very pro-labor administration so can we expect something on this soon?
|
sure as long as we staple them. A little furlogh buffer, and they have to work for one year at 33 an hour
|
Even if they were integrated rather than stapled, I think UPS would have to hire. As you know, they get a lot of work out of those guys.
I've heard from some that they would like to come onto the seniority list, and others have told me that they hope it doesn't happen. Either way, I agree that there is a better chance of that happening with Obama. |
Staple all the way! Sorry, if you turn your back on the union and seniority list and all that it entails, then you should be stapled to the bottom. Thanks to the Farves I've moved down the list far enough. Please no more displacements or realignments!
And as for their integration causing hiring I just don't know. Sure, some managers fly more than their alloted share. But there are also those who, if they're lucky, get out of the office to fly a couple of times a month. I just don't like the thought of 200+ more guys on the list ahead of me. |
Forget that integration could possibly cause more pilot hiring to be req'd.
If they all get to be union, then they can't be managers--now UPS has to hire a 5hitload of managers to do their former office jobs--not a chance (if UPS had its way). If that group ever tries to organize themselves into the IPA, be ready for the company hammer to fall with firings and other hard-ball tactics. I don't think that group will ever get to that point for fear of their jobs, and maybe some stool pigeons in the group undermining them. |

I have flown with a couple of managers in the last few months and this issue does come up. Some of these guys drink a lot of the "Brown Kool-Aid" and are not interested in coming over (at least won't admit it). Quite honestly the former IPAers are the worst on this issue.

That is not true. They would be managers just as every other airline has pilots doing management jobs. At my previous employer, 2800 pilots, there were dozens of pilots, with seniority numbers, that rarely, if ever, saw the line. That is how it would be here. They would simply be restricted to flying based on our contract.
Same with me but less pilots. And a LOT less "managers" ... FWIW. I know that will never change here. But it would be nice to see our hundreds of managers held to work rules in our CBA. Instead of the super reserve system that is in place now. |
