Did guys that bid HKG capt during the excess get passover pay or not? I have heard both.

It is a secret. I can see why management would keep us in the dark, can anyone splain why ALPA wants us to be mushrooms? Other than knowledge is power.

What excess? 08-03 was canceled.

There are SFS guys who were initially awarded CDG, had their awards canceled (thus reverting back to an excess status), and then big HKG CA for passover pay and ARE getting it.

As far as people being excessed off other airplanes, the only excess bids I'm aware of were some small ones on the DC-10. And if people being excessed off that were senior to bottom HKG CA A.S., and too junior to hold widebody CA in the states, then yes, they too are getting passover pay.

It's not that complicated.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but you do not receive the passover pay until you are activated in the position (ie HKG A-300 CA). The passover pay is being accrued, but they will not receive anything until they are activated. So, if you are going to play the game during the next excess bid, you have to go to HKG to receive the passover pay (or be award widebody captain is something else before you begin training).

08-03 was canceled but if my memory serves 08-02 was a huge bid with lots of excesses. And it had no HGK capts on it. I think one of the reasons for 08-03 was for the company to try to get rid of some passover obligations from 08-02. The price tag discouraged them.

I wont bet on it (or do the research) but you get passover as soon as someone Jr to you activates. You may have to pay it back if an opening at that pay scale comes up and you refuse it or flunk out. But then I never did find out what was in Grievance 08-01.

I'll correct you, because yes, you are wrong (I've been wrong before too, so don't feel too bad)

Passover pay has nothing to do with you being activated. It is solely predicated on someone else being activated. If you were activated in the new position (HKG CA in the case we're talking about), then passover pay would not be a player, since you are actually in the seat you are being paid for.

You are paid passover pay, in the case we're talking about, because:

*You are excessed out of your current seat
*There is someone junior to you already activated in HKG CA seat
*The bid closes
*They dont sent you to HKG CA position because its already full
*Boom you start getting paid passover pay.

Not that complicated.

there was an excess before 08-03. The one with the SO's going back to the front. The one that locked some into the 757. Talk to some junior 727 CA's who bid HKG CA.

I had heard 13 guys bid HKG Capt on 08-02 and no one knows if they are getting passover or not. One rumor with no source is 180 on 08-03 bid it. You would think that info would be easy to get.
