IPA President Miller Records Special Video Message
UPS today announced the February closure of night sorts in DFW and CAE. A total of ten flights are affected with four flights being rerouted and six flights being suspended. UPS officials confirmed with IPA that the sort closures will not, however, result in any aircraft being parked or crewmembers being displaced or furloughed.
IPA President Bob Miller recorded a special video hotline message which addresses today’s announcement by UPS, the weakness in the economy and furlough rumors.

Network
Is this the "right size the network" announcement that seemed to spur all of the furlough rumors?
If so, I think this is positive news. Only a net loss of 6 flights and an official announcement by UPS of NO Furloughs.
Anybody else have positive input?

Rumor has it that eight mechanics will be surplused , maybe to SDF.
Ops people are being told its to expensive to run the sort.

Well, while this may be good for the pilots - no furloughs - I'm sorry to hear that the sort employees get bad news right at Thanksgiving. On a side note, is this:
A) Right sizing the network?
B) Reducing capacity due to the economic downturn?
C) Would have been happened anyway with the new expansion/capacity coming online at world port?
Hopefully, UPS will do right by those who will no longer be needed.
