Why are we even discussing this? There will be no furlough; UPS may be slightly overmanned, but the cost of putting guys on the street and then retraining their replacements for a few months would be great. The Storm Troopers in ATL are trying to find ways to cut cost, not increase them.
Oh, BTW, UPS only made 9 hundred million last quarter. |

you are correct. Ups is over manned by atleast 200 under qualified flight manglers. Get rid of them and the airline still functions normally and they will save 100's of millions that they need.

Hey, Slug -
Or, we could put out a offer of volunteers for this proposal of yours. Sounds like you could be the first in line to not work, not have benefits, and live with the risk of not being called back. Before you suggest a furlough in any form, have you ever been through one? FD |

Why would the furlough pilot be screwed? He will still be taking home the same pay and doesn’t even have to go into work. We as a pilot group would pay the furlough pilot instead of giving the company pay cuts.
What happens when the unemployment ends? Even with the extension, it only amounts to 9 months. COBRA payments for a family are around $1800 per month. 757Slug...I take it you've never been furloughed. |
We all just need to stop talking about this right now. We are just giving UPS more ammo to use against us. And don't think for a minute that there aren't people on here reading this stuff. We are just giving them insight into our psyche and what people are willing to do. Let's wait and see what happens first. I've been furloughed 3 times in 5 years, so, yes, I know what it is like going through this. BUT THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY ANNOUCEMENT YET!

Yes, And there will probably not be one anytime soon. I cannot believe that some would ever consider concessions when this company is making so much. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax. I can only imagine what the ABX/ASTAR guy must feel when they read the whining about a furlough at UPS, that probably won’t happen. And I bet the manglers at Brown are just loving this. |
Besides fear mongering, the numbers are way off. Only 58 of the bottom 200 are FEs. I think I'll ignore this thread now and go back to la la land.
