Rumor on the street is that JG was offered a position within the 777 Fleet (instructor, I think).

BAD move, Block Reps!
Q: So the "leverage" for our NC to negotiate >wide body rate for the 777 comes from....?
A: Obviously outside the union leadership ranks. Was at a hub turn meeting a couple of months ago where I was "enlightened" by one of the briefers on the 777 training program he was currently attending. Choked a little before finally walking out. Guess I just don't get it. Still wonder what kind of "deal" those early 777 trainees were promised outside the CBA. When the time comes, sign me up to run for Block 8 ------------------------------------------------- Just call me a 32%er, AND non-bidder for the 777 |

When the time comes, sign me up to run for Block 8 ------------------------------------------------- Just call me a 32%er, AND non-bidder for the 777 My question to you is: rather than just "choking a little before finally walking out", why didn't you voice your objections, right then and there, in front of your fellow hub-turners and g_d? By just walking out, you did nothing, either for your case, or for those who weren't there, who agree with your point of view. Being from the North East, I've always found that direct, respectful, confrontation is far and away better than just thinking "that guy is an A hole" and leaving it at that. As I've said before, if you don't spend the time to tell someone that he or she is wrong, and why, than you can't expect them to alter their behavior or point of view. Each of us is responsible for letting our elected officials know how we feel about a specific issue. JJ |

Truly pathetic, practice bid or no. With leverage like this don't ask for a hand from them when you're falling over the cliff.
|
YGBFSM sums it up nicely. The company is laughing so hard they just peed their pants. Do we even have a union anymore?
|
I am at a loss for words....way to go Block reps....way too go!!!

Interesting Day
First I wake up to find out that the Illinois Governor has been arrested for conspiracy,
Secondly, I hear Ted Turner (Founder of the renown CNN) interviewed and he said he was unaware that the Khymer Rouge butchered millions in Cambodia, Now, I look at the practice bid and see that my Block Rep bid the 777. My problem is that I can't figure out if any of this surprises me. |
Hey - the positive spin. I'll move up 4 in ANC. I won't have to go to the sim for 3-3 and a V1 cut before each trip. I won't train with the reduced BLGs set at 48 credit hours. And I hear Mr. Shipman is going to build the B-777 VTOs.

JJ No excuse, sir! :) Guilty as charged; have a hard time with that "respectful disagreement" thang. Seriously though, I been an active correspondent with my Block & LEC Reps over the last several years. The fact that my LEC Chair was standing beside said individual, giving the union's--ready for a big word?--imprimateur (or stamp of approval for my fellow uneducmacated pilots from the South) gave me pause. That and the fact I'm relatively new on the property--not an excuse, just not ready to trash those many who have worked here a lot longer than me to build both the company AND the union to what it is today. OK, strike the union part. Still happy to be here, but obviously don't get the big picture. |
An Idea!
I just had a moment of clarity,...maybe we can get our new Negotiating Chariman to press Mgmt. to "grandfather" anyone who bids the 777 now with MD11/Bus pay rates, even AFTER a new rate is negotiated? I wonder how many names would be on the SECOND practice bid?

So maybe they are thinking.....bid the 777....see what the rate is.....if it don't pass duh test....200 percent vacation and back to previous seat. Nah...guess not.

Revenue generated $$$, Ultra Long Haul Flying, 20 hrs days with ND's, The list goes on.
And it is not an MD 11 pay rate, it is an Airbus pay rate, the 777 goobers are bidding for. 777 = Airbus Pay. ALPA in itself is confusing. |
Edited due to management blunder

Thanks for the answers. My bad, I thought the MD-11 and Airbus paid the same. In any case, paying the 777 less than the MD-11 seems all wrong to me but wtfdik. I guess your leverage just went bye bye. Sorry to hear that.

It keeps coming!

Maybe they all bid it, so that the company is not able to say that the Union told everyone not to. Long shot...

It is all a poker game. Not your bad. This whole industry is a jigsaw puzzle. It is hard to figure out which hand the candy is in, no matter who you are. My bad if I was misleading on the pay as overnite said 777 and md pay the same, I tried to put it in a different light. LEVERAGE... I hope we figure it out, the sky ahead seems to be dark.

Re: MEC Jumpseat Chair
I just spoke with R.O., our MEC Jumpseat Chair and he told me that the 777 isn't even on his standing bid. His bid was entered 11/17/08 at 23:09z, VIPS ref. number 841795 and does NOT include ANY 777 seats.
So, how about everyone take a chill pill and personally contact your reps and ask if the 777 is on their standing bid - you might be supprised. I did and R.O. says that the bid is definitely incorrect regarding his Standing Bid. R.O. is going to call Contract Admin first thing in the morning to figure out *** is going on! Just thought you should know... |

Plz apologize my ignorance here but I'm just a lowly brown guy - is the disagreement the fact people are bidding a new aircraft before the pay rate has been set? or is it something else?

Once again some of you forum rats are gnawing right through the truth. Why don't you explain this one in your web wisdom? Oh you might also notice the date that this bid was entered...and see if matches any other date on something that HazCan cut and pasted...now back to working on issues for you...

If the shoe fits...I take calls 24/7 and interrupt my family life to get many of you to and from work and through security...ALWAYS! You could at least have the decency to call me instead of hiding here behind your own pointed comments and always dogging the union. Thanks to Dornier for having the guts to call. I didn't even look at the practice bid, because I have better things to do. I didn't need to see it--or so I thought--because I knew I wouldn't be on it. Why do I do it!?
|
I wonder
Ok...I have calmed down a bit now. My wife and I are wondering what percentage the company put my bid in for me anyway. I can do the math on what my primary award...but was it at 100 percent...really? At least it was worth a laugh...
|
Well, the company must not want me in triple seven (buu, wuu,... sob,....sniff). :) I don't have it in my standing bid EITHER. The arbitrator is going to have a field day with this one.
My sincere apologies to any of the Representatives I mentioned who in fact did not have the 777, ( or the 380, for that matter) in their standing bids. RO and SM, impugning our/my Union was never my intent and I hope we get to the bottom of this very quickly. Sincerely, fbh |
