Shipping Rate Question

Ok, have just a quickie here. Does FedEx or UPS ship to an APO (zip code is 09063)? If yes, what is the rate to ship a box that weighs 6 pounds? Time is not an issue so it could get there in 3 weeks and it wouldn't matter. In fact, I'd rather pay less for it to go over on the slow boat, if that is an option.

If neither does an APO, the rates will be for international freight, right? Gulp. Sounds expensive.

I was told that going through the Post Office, Uncle Sam will ship my 6 pounder for the same rate as if it were going within the country. They can't say when it will get there, but it will apparently. I have some clothes marked 3 months old and 6 months old, so I hope they get there in time for the baby to wear at least once. :D

Go with the Post Office. It will get there in week or so. The military will put it on ship or a plane.

Yep - Post Office treats APOs like CONUS addresses, so it's your best cheapest bet. It will be there within a week.

Yup ... USPS seemed to do quite a good job getting stuff to our FPO address (Navy APO equivalent) in a timely manner. It's a good system and they'll charge domestic rates. I recommend it also :D

FedEx does not offer service to APOs.

When does our (FedEx) employee holiday blackout period end? I need to ship a backpack to the manufacturer for warranty replacement.

What do you mean by black out? You can ship something anytime. We just have the guarantee during peak. Not sure what the official dates are for that. I'm sure it's in your copy of the People Book. :)

Don't think the blackout period existed this year. Was in and out of the local office prior and during the Christmas week and didn't see it posted in the usual location.

It's been more than 2 weeks since I sent that box of baby clothes to that APO. Still not there yet as of today. Is there a reason you guys don't do APOs? You're throwing business away. My business.

Better get another box together of 24 month old clothes. :)

Seems like they send out info each year about shipping your stuff very early. Maybe even by the 1st week of Dec, or sooner, because of the backlog of stuff they get....

It'll probably get there. Sometime... You know how efficient the Gov is! :)

p.s. Send 36 month old clothes next time! By the time they get there they'll fit just right!
