FDX 777 Bid Closes Monday

Well, with the ominous message from PC on BLG cuts, the union's commentary on the Company planning on not cutting BLG's equally across the board, and the union's subtle hint that bidding the 777 might be a cut in pay, what are people's final guess on seniority in each seat when this bid closes?

Very senior CA (many of them appear completely out of touch with what's going on) and very junior F/Os (many of them appear completely out of touch with what's going on).

Edit: Present company of APC posters excluded of course.

Maybe it will go so "junior" on the f/o list that they will go to the "pool" :D

Yeah just after the extra 700 already on property...

Deuce130,

Please enlighten this uninformed Junior F/O. What is the problem with the Junior people bidding something that will not require a training cycle for 12 months or more ? If the 48/60 is still an issue, those Junior folks will be looking at something other than a FedEx paycheck. What exactly are those oblivious individuals not seeing which too you are privy ? Please advise, but hurry; the bid closes tomorrow morning.

Regards,
Rob

Don't bid it until the Union (read:US) has settled on a payrate. If you do, you undermine the Union (again, US) and take away leverage that we might have. I'd like to think it doesn't even exist until there is a payrate in place. However, tomorrow will show that there are at least 250 inDUHviduals that don't agree with me. They get what they get....

Are you getting your ALPA emails? Do you realize that you as an individual are undermining our NC committee for 777 payrates and work rules? Are you familiar with the background of our last contract dealing with the 380 payrates and work rules? Do you realize that we gave something up for that? Do you realize the company pulled a bait and switch less than two weeks later with the 777 and claimed it wasn't a 380 replacement? Do you realize that by bidding the 777 you will help the company and not your union if this goes to mediation or arbitration? Yes, you seem to be oblivious. I'm junior, too, well within the 700 number. It's not on my bid - I'm doing my part. Are you?

Deuce-

Not to point out the obvious but at least Rob (Herkman34) asks the question. Many others are just going to bid it and be darned with what it does to undermine the other pilots. I completely agree with Deuce in this case BUT I am trying to explain this to all those I fly with and not lose my mind. I'm sure I'll scream at the end of today though. FWIW!

You're right, the 777F can carry 19% more than the MD-11, so we had better get something for it. Heck, we will eventually have 17 of these things on property. If we only support the Association on this one, we'll get what we deserve! After all, someone has to clean up the NC's mess. Who could possibly have thought to put language in the contract saying something like "A380 or replacement", or maybe using weights like United does to establish pay rates?

On the other hand, the 757 carries 21% more than the 727 and there will eventually be 80+ of these on property. Where were you all when people were bidding this for an established pay rate that wasn't more than current book? Oh, I forgot, it's ok to do so when the NC sells the junior aircraft up the river to get a few sheckles more for the 777.

No one here, to my recollection, complained about the 757 pay not being higher than 727 pay. This would effect more crewmembers more substantially than the 777/A380 pay issue, but nobody cared. Additionally, the instructor block was sold out on the last contract and the attitude on this board was "F'em, if they don't like it, they can quit." Hard for me to get all enthused about supporting the Association on this issue. Seems like they've been busily making some of us more equal than others for some time now.

hmmmm... seems the boy may have a point here.

I sure hope we get some real leadership at the top of the association, it's about to be even more critical.
