I flew the last 9 flight for ABX 185 (DSM-ILN) on DEC 26th with Capt Bernie. Very sad and somewhat emotionial, I can only imagine what last nite was like for guys who have been with ABX for years. Normally when you park an old workhorse it is for progress. Our flight crews and our 9s dont deserve to go out like this. Good luck to us all.

Ended up flying my last '9 trip New Year"s Eve: replaced Charlie on PNS the day after his "trouble". I flew the airplane for 16 years: 7 as FO and 9 as Captain, WAY longer than anything else in my career. Came to believe that there was not much you couldn't do with a DC9 except maybe make a profit in the current world. Sure did love it, though...
