FDX Options in KIX
Anyone out there have the approved deviation option to get to the airport in Osaka seeing as how the company cancels that when you deviate?
Thanks IF |
I haven't tried it before but here's a link for the Osaka subway/train map:
Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau/Using the subway The airport's at the bottom of the map and it looks like there are 4 stops before it drops you off at Namba station. I've taken the Shinkansen bullet train from NRT to KIX and it was easy to figure out so I'd imagine this would be fairly easy to do too. Then just keep the recipts/stubs for the expense report. Prices are shown on the website too, maybe 850 yen for a one-day pass, so if that doesn't do you from the airport it must be fairly close to that price. I hope that's helpful. |
thanks for the info.

Pretty sure it goes: Namba Station, 4 stops to Osaka JR station, then the line direct to the Airport.
There may be other routes, but that one will work. FWIW |
There's also an 880 yen bus that leaves every half hour or so to/from Namba station and KIX. Here's the link to the schedule and the map for pickup/drop-off locations:
namba(OCAT) Very easy and no trying to change trains while dragging your bags. |
Make sure you email kix ramp with your deviation plans. you never know, a ride might be there for you...I'm just saying

AT is right, start by emailing the ramp and let them know what you are doing. If you are on an RFO trip they will set up the ride and cover it, at least they used too. If its a full crew, talk to the other guy and set up a time that will work for both of you and they might still set it up and cover it. The main thing in Japan is to email the ramp and see what they can do for you.

I understand the ramp in NRT will give you a sheet with the details when you arrive on your working leg. Haven't had the ramp help but did do the dev a couple of years ago and enjoyed mixing with the natives. Total time for dev about 5 hours, similar to the gnd trans and sch flight, and no long ride from the airport. :)

Let the ramp know that's preparing your shore pass so you're good to use the same one through all the prefectures. Yours will list the 'ones' appropriate for your travels. Same if you're going to go climb Fuji, or spend the night in the Ginza. It's not a problem, just a formality.
